To think school could get in touch with pupils at least once during lockdown?

Has your school been in touch with children by phone or zoom at all?

We've had no direct contact from school, just worksheets to print out from the website. I've emailed the head to request zoom or a phone call, he has said they've checked and zoom is inappropriate due to child safeguarding.

AIBU in thinking a quick phone call from teacher to pupils would boost morale?

I hear you, I really do.

What scares me at the moment is that on countless threads on here where someone has a safeguarding concern about a child, a concerning number of posters seem to say things like:
Don't call social services or school. You're being a busybody.
Why don't you approach the parents directly and show your concern.
Maybe they're just having a rough time
Look at all the perfect parents out there ready to judge
Social services remove children for no reason and they will do it more if challenged because social workers hate being challenged.

Given those views I'm not sure there's the culture of it taking a village and safeguarding being everyone's duty.

One achool have been wow

The other. Has been nothing. Zilch. No worksheets. No phone calls. No emails.

Literally nothing. Nada. Can't believe how crap they've been

We've had very little from our school and no direct contact at all. However I know that they have a lot of key worker children attending school, a lot of vulnerable children, and a high percentage with Sen. So I imagine that mine are pretty low down the list of priorities. Plus dd's teacher is part time with her own children to look after.

My sons teacher emails 2/3 times a week and always replies to email promptly.
The teachers have just set up Microsoft team meetings for the children for next week
