To ask about taps?!

I live on the south coast. Made the fatal error of installing black taps in my kitchen. They NEVER look clean and are a nightmare with limescale buildup etc and you can use standard cleaning products to clean them.

I’m now looking to change. What options are good in a hard water area?? I’d rather not have chrome.

Watching with interest. We have chrome and it is a nightmare! Always looks dirty.

We went with brushed chrome because they don't show up the marks as much as shiny chrome.

Water softener

Yes, I'd go with the water softner, if you install it to deal with all water coming into the house, it will be worth it as you won't have your washing machine, showers, kettles and dishwashers scaling up either.

Plus your tea and coffee will taste nicer, you'll use loads less shampoo, shower gel, washing liquids, dishwasher salt etc etc.

I live in a very soft water area and any time I'm in a house/hotel with hard water, I can't believe how awful it is, how do people put up with it? (First world problems obviously, I do appreciate how fortunate we are to have clean water on tap, even if it is hard water).

I have a matt mottled black, it’s hard to describe but it looks a bit like stone. Anyway, it doesn’t show water marks but the chrome tip at the end does. So looking for something matt rather than shiny might be the answer.
