I have been told i’m Furloughed until August but I can see the company making me redundant, I keep looking for other work but can’t find anything? Anyone else in the same situation?

Yep. I'm due to go back next month but who knows. I'm 9 days away from 2 years there so fingers crossed I'll get redundancy if the worst happens.
There's already been some changes, very senior management have left so there will be an org review. Just whether I'll be in it.
Good luck OP

I've been furloughed since beginning of April, and due back in work end of June. I had a phone call from my boss last week to say that work is starting to pick up and some members of staff who were furloughed are now starting back to work.
He confirmed that there are no talks of redundancy and our jobs will be safe.
Whilst that reassured me, I can't help but feel worried that redundancies will happen if work doesn't pick up enough

I’m furloughed until the end of June, but we have 3 children aged 6 and under so I don’t see how I can go back. I’m so stressed and anxious about it. My partner is self employed so if he doesn’t work he doesn’t earn. I feel like in a lot of similar cases the women are going to suffer here.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 09/06/2020 08:12

Yes, I've been on furlough since March, no sign of me going back yet. My boss assures us that we should all be back by October when furlough ends but business really needs to pick up.

MidsomerMum · 09/06/2020 08:15

We’re the other way around (but fear of same outcome) - insistent that only one person who can’t work from home will be furloughed and the rest of us will keep working. But our income projection is down 65% (and actual income in this quarter is actually down 80%) and I just can’t see how they can justify keeping staff on when that will mean we can’t actually provide the service to our clients. I think our CEO is trying to do the right thing by ensuring we all have an income but I’m conflicted about the ethics of that when people relying on our funding won’t now receive it.

Women and children are going to suffer the most, children need to go back to school so women can go back to work.

I came off furlough recently. Our CEO has told us a restructure is on the cards and we'll find out more soon.

I'm not hopeful I'll have my job at the end of the year but at least I'm in the position of having several years service at the company so I'll get a bit of money to tie my over to a new job if I can get one!

Glitteryone · 09/06/2020 08:30

Yes I really do doubt that I will have a job to return to unfortunately!

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 09/06/2020 08:32

Currently furloughed and not confident I'll have a job to go back to. The others on the team have not been furloughed (I'm the only one with kids so was offered it first) but I can see them coping without me and it's not a great leap for them to make that a permanent arrangement.

Hate my job /boss anyway but money is money!

I went back on Friday. Business has been good but the main thing that is stopping people coming back, is this 2m rule. If it carries on then I can see not everyone will make it.

girlie123 · 09/06/2020 08:54

@coronabored - this is my worry. For places to open back and people to go back to work, strict plans needs to be in place to make sure the 2m can be adhered to. For a lot of places to do this a lot of change is needed, possibly including "sneeze screens" and other adaptations which is going to cost money which they just don't have at the moment.
My only saving grace is I have been at my place for over 18 years so will have a good redundancy package if that's what it came down to Confused

Alex50 · 09/06/2020 08:55

Hopefully the 2 metre rule can be reviewed to 1 metre, everything is such a mess, this great country is now falling apart 😞

1m would be perfect and shouldn't impact most normal business operation, after all, it's what society should have anyway.

No more back-grazers in queues (I can feel your breath on my neck, fucker) and no more close-talkers.

No more leaning on your back and reaching right over you in stores (just say excuse me, I'd move Hmm)

No more passive aggressives standing too close in a shop, trying to get you to move. Hmm

No more kissy hellos from strangers.

1m. Corona's gift to us. 🎉

LongTallSammie · 09/06/2020 09:21

Sadly Alex that isn't going to happen.

Schools aren't going back until September so parents that have to return to the workplace from furlough will have to use grandparents/neighbours and sadly some will probably leave their children home alone. Childcare is hit and miss. My friend runs an after school club and currently not allowed to run it.

The people that struggle to go back to the workplace may be the first in line for redundancy.

BashStreetKid · 09/06/2020 09:25

DD is furloughed and has just been told that her employer is looking for voluntary redundancies, failing which they'll be imposed. Also that those retained will have a 20% pay cut.

ssd · 09/06/2020 09:26

Yes, but what can we do???
