Lighthearted thread but OMG!

Firstly Why do they always call fireman Sam? Surely they should call the fire brigade or 999 not Sam, I mean he's not even the station officer!
Second, surely Norman would be in a young persons detention centre by now or at least be kept an eye on by social services! The amount of arson he commits is ridiculous.
Finally Sarah, James and Hannah are horrible friends and should be ashamed!

My 11 year old was obsessed with it a decade ago. Now my toddler is OBSESSED!

I love this thread! Fireman sam is blatantly Norman's dad. No other explanation as to why he is so patient with him aside from a deep guilt at the truth. Norman I think is struggling without a father figure and a mum who is so inconsistent with him, e.g. she defends everything till she doesn't. I actually feel fond of Norman as hes just a product of his mothers passive parenting and no clear guidance.

Hannah is awful. Thinks cos shes in a wheelchair she can do whatever she likes.

Mandy is beyond sly and manipulative and gets my back up.

James is a wingy little shit, and Sarah so bossy it does my head in.

How a calm, sensible, intelligent woman like Helen Flood can marry Mike is beyond me. Think she may have a prozac problem to put up with him.

Mrs Chenn is so sharp its staggers me she is allowed to work with primary school kids.

Sam has a hero complex. Elvis is lovely and Penny is an unsung hero. Ellie is a sarcastic nasty bitch and Arnold is a geek.

Bronwyn is a hippie who need to get her head out of her incense and do her accounts properly, and realise there simply is not 1 million people able to have her fish and chips. Unless the 25 people in Pontypandy go 25 times a day over a 2 and a half year period...(not that I worked it out or anything....)

Oh this has cracked me up. I thought our Fireman Sam days were well and truly in the past but since lockdown my 9 year-old twin DSs seem to have become obsessed with it all over again. Its now recorded on series link, which, as it's on back-to-back for hours every day on Cartoonito, means there are always about a hundred episodes to watch - all of which we have already seen trillions of times over! We do all have a laugh over how unrealistic it is and I mentioned the insurance issue just today - bit they still live it!

I know I'm reviving an old thread but my two DC have become obsessed with the show, and i hate it. I grew up in a bush fire area of Australia and would feel safer there than Pontipandy for all the wild fires they have.

And that Elvis, fucking useless. One episode he's socialising at a BBQ and it catches the house alight. Rather than do something about the fire, and mind you he's in his uniform, he says "call the fire brigade". I think he must be employed under a Welsh government disability scheme

Oh my Lord. My son is about to be 31 and I spent forever in pontypandy. Watched every episode about a million times. His nan was always st officer Steele, I was Elvis, he was Sam. If he was naughty he was called Norman Price. Went on for years, drove me insane. His 30th birthday card was a pic of him dressed as Fireman frigging Sam.

I have always thought that Norman is Sam's son and Elvis is Steele's son. I like the love triangle between Dilys, Trevor and Bella (although Bella is rarely in it now). Not so keen on the new firefighters though.

Sorry I know this is old but my LO started to watch the CGI Fireman Sam. Very quickly I realized how grating some of these voices are, like Norman and Elvis. Really like fingernails on a chalkboard. And the accents?! If I was Welsh I'd be offended, they sound like bloody idiots.

Luckily I found the old stop motion series on YouTube and LO is showing that he already knows a good thing when he sees it.

The original Fireman Sam TV theme is a banger. It is genuinely funny and all the voices are provided by a wonderful actor called John Alderton - if that isn't talent I don't know what is. If you actually sit down and watch them, they are charming, warm and very enjoyable.

How the fuck did we end up with Fireman Sam 2.0 from this? Seriously 😐. The only good thing about it is it makes you appreciate the original.

Ftr, I'm not against reboots, I think the new Thomas Tank Engine is brilliant.
