Are you letting your kids play out?

Lots of kids are starting to play out together on our street. Mine are nagging me but I'm not letting them play out yet. Are you letting your kids play out?

I’m north west and whilst I know the R rate isn’t slightly higher I also know that the four nearest hospitals near me haven’t had a single admittance in over two weeks so I’m guessing the majority tested are now those who are asympyomatic or mildly symptomatic key workers

Yes, they know to keep a distance and there’s less than 6 of them.

No, but we have a huge garden for them to spend time in. Without that we'd have had to let them play out of they'd have struggled.

No kids are playing out in our street. We have small gardens and they're all going out on walks, runs and cycle rides.

No. All the other kids are playing out and have done all lockdown . Mine are just a teensy but too young to mind, thank God.

Luckily they haven't asked.
The ones who have being playing out are the ones who have been out all over lockdown and are a little younger than my DC.
None of their friends have been seen out either which helps.

Yes. There are very, very few cases in our area and they are so much happier for having some time with peers.

Yes mine are playing with 2 others in the street all socially distanced and very good at it

Yes my DD8 is playing out with the neighbours’ children, there’s less than 6 of them and they are old enough to understand about keeping their distance (and are doing so) - so I really don’t see why not.

Yes - they are being very good about not meeting in groups larger than 6 but they are meeting. I've had enough of keeping my kid isolated. They are outdoors and they are kids. The risk to them is almost nothing.

No way.
The kids in our street have been playing out all through lockdown, visiting each other all the time with no distancing at all. Thankfully none have become sick but there is no way my children are going out with them just yet. Thankfully mine are old enough to understand why but it’s been very upsetting for them see their friends out and they can’t go.

Yes but they play mostly together and stay apart from other kids. Mostly charging about on bikes or scooters

Dd2 went on a bike ride with her friend today, 2m apart (more than that). Dc seem to get it more than most adults.

Yes, when they advised people we're allowed to meet one person outside their household I assumed that extended to everyone and not just adults. My 9yo DD hadn't seen her best friend in 10 weeks and she was her chosen person. Luckily the feeling was mutual and they've had a few play sessions in my front garden. It's done them both the works of good. I see so many people saying their kids are struggling and all I can think is well let them see their friends then! I fully understand not doing it if someone is shielding, but if not..

Mine did over half term and has they've mostly been great at socially distancing - the girls were better at it than the boys tbh. Did her the power of good.

DS is. We’ve finally moved to a street that has other children on it! They were already playing our so DS joined them. He is an only child (aged 11) and his social skills have evaporated. He didn’t see another child for 9 weeks before we moved! They ride those bikes or scooters so are naturally 2m apart. He’s going to high school in Sept and his school hasn’t reopened for year 6, so if he doesn’t play with another child until September, his social skills will be non existent and it’s so important to make friends at that age.

Yes, I started letting mine play out with the 2 kids from next door this week. They mostly socially distance well, I sit out there with a coffee to keep an eye.

Yes. They’re back at school and now there’s capacity I am not worried about them catching it more than any other disease.

Yes. On scooters/bikes which means unintentionally socially distanced. Plus it’s 2 children from 1 other household so the risk is minuscule.

Yes we have met up with friends in the park,kids all kept their distance and daughter has been so much happier this week so will continue to meet up - not breaking any rules cos we meet outside and keep our distance
