This guy sings in my garden early morning and evening. He/she has such a beautiful voice! Can anyone please tell me—what kind of bird is this?

I've listened to all the recorded bird calls I can find and none of them match!

NewYear This one's not as warbly or shrill as a robin.

Boosey The song thrush is beautiful!

I'm going to get the binoculars out and try to spot/get a picture of him. I'm coming round to the idea that it's a territorial male blackbird with a regional accent. Thanks everyone!

I’m absolutely certain it is a blackbird..such a beautiful song.❤️

Roseburn · 07/06/2020 15:54

Sounds like a blackbird to me.

If you are looking for him, he'll be high up and visible. On a lamp post, a television aerial, a chimney. Prolaiming his territory.

FourEyesGood · 07/06/2020 16:03

Adding another vote for blackbird. Their song is so varied - I’m always amazed by them.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/06/2020 16:10

Definitely a blackbird - the one in my garden sounds just the same

Oh, and I'm listening to this outside and you've set it off!!

Snagscardies · 07/06/2020 16:39

Agree blackbird, fwiw I've just listened to the rspb blackbird song and it's not the same as my blackbirds.

Jimmers · 07/06/2020 17:06

Blackbird. I just played this out loud while sitting in garden & my local male blackbird started singing back Grin

FineWordsForAPorcupine · 07/06/2020 17:13

Sounds like a blackbird. Look for him somewhere up high - mine sits at the very top of the tallest tree in the garden.

This is a nice bit of info for bird song lovers. They also have live webcams of nesting boxes too. I don’t work for them 😸

SparklesAllOver · 07/06/2020 17:53

Defo a blackbird, very musical, and LOUD!

biddybird · 08/06/2020 02:03

Thanks to everyone who commented! I tried to spot him this afternoon but I suspect he is in a very bushy (and tall) tree that overhangs my garden fence.
I will keep trying…

I think it's blackbirds

DramaAlpaca · 08/06/2020 02:47

Another vote for blackbird. I never tire of listening to ours, his song varies all the time.

MitziK · 08/06/2020 04:52

Same as almost everybody else - it's a Blackbird. Starlings try and copy the notes, but generally screw it up at the end by making sneezing noises or trying to create a mash up with Wrens and Robins.

MitziK · 08/06/2020 04:52

Oh, and at the end, you've got a Blackbird alarm call and a Wren.
