Have you had COVID?

Pretty convinced I have though no antigen test yet. Awful cough and bedridden for a week in early March. Relatively healthy/fit before but now a 2 minute run has me out of breath. So grateful it wasn’t worse though 😞 Anyone else think they’ve had it and on the road to recovery?

I had all the symptoms in February. It's the illest I've been for years. No proof it was It, though.

Same here. Before it was 'officially' here makes it seem extremely unlikely, but I have wondered with hindisight.

Yes, I think so. Dreadful cough ( still coughing 7 weeks later!) lack of breath, high temperature, lay in bed for 3 days. It was early on in the process so no tests at the time but my dad, who lives with me, was taken into hospital and was there 8 weeks with definite coronavirus so I think it is pretty much certain I had it too.

No, not been ill with those symptoms over the time off, or just before.
Teen Dd had a fought mid March the week before schools shut but it was short lived and no other symptoms. We self isolated as required but if she did have it it would have been extremely milk and short lived.

I fill in the research app and did a home test last night for collection today.
I have no Covid symptoms but the app asked me to take one. Only illness symptom I'd registered this week was sickness and nausea as had some kind of 24 hour tummy bug thing.

So it's being picked up today, but if it did return a positive result it would be an asymptotic version.

Mid March started with dry cough and sore throat after a few days had a fever for a couple of days, had a Skype app with my GP surgery. No test but she thought very likely as all symptoms, also vomited once but incredibly violent even water, also had the food tasting very weird for a few days. Fatigue terrible only just getting back to totally original energy level.

Only other people I've know to have been tested are my FIL and my nana, and both were on hospital during the last 2 months before their deaths.

FIL was tested in hospital three times and all were negative. He sadly passed away from cancer.

My nana went into hospital with an infection and pneumonia. Two initial tests were negative, but tests 3 and 4 (taken after being in hospital around a 3 weeks-month) were positive so she may well have caught it whilst in hospital. Her death certificate states fragility of being old (she was 92) with no mention of Covid though, although she was positive when she passed away.

We self isolated for two weeks, as soon as I showed symptoms., there had been definite cases at the University DH works at. He had zero symptoms. I would be interested in a genuine test, the Dr said she would arrange at some point for DH and I to have one but I haven’t chased it.

I had the antibody test which came back positive. I'd only had a week of headaches, occasional sneezes and coughs plus no sense of taste or smell so it was a really mild case.

I’m fairly sure we’ve had it in our family. I started with a sudden sore throat in Feb. Sore throat came on suddenly, lasted only 24 hours but left me with an immensely dry cough and loss of voice. My lost voice disappeared after about 2 days but the cough lasted for over a month. In addition I also had approx 3 days where I felt like I couldn’t breath correctly. I felt like someone was choking me when I laid down. If I put my chin on my chest I sounded like darth Vader. I took me a good 6 weeks to return to normal. I was wheezy on walking and struggled with physical exercise. My 4 children also had similar experiences over the next 6 weeks. Youngest had the sudden sore throat and temperature followed by a week of fatigue. Daughter developed a constant cough and was in process of being tested for asthma. Cough has now disappeared. Child 2 lost sense of taste and smell for week and child 1 was sent home from school just before lockdown with persistent dry cough which lasted approx 2 weeks then disappeared. We will never know until we get the antibody test I guess. My work involves visiting care homes so I think I could have picked up via work.

I don't know. DS had a cough followed by a rash (the type of which is now linked to COVID), I had a headache and felt knackered for a week starting the week after DS's cough started. No idea if either of us had it. I'm NHS staff so hoping for an antibody test.

Does anyone know if the antibody response is weaker if you had a milder infection?

I wouldn't be sure id had it with my symptoms. Was only really rough for one day with cough, temp only peaked once. Lost sense of smell for weeks. But I'm pretty sure it was covid now with how poorly dh got afterwards. Eagerly awaiting an antibody test.

Interestingly. A friend of my cousin posted this week that she was awaiting the result of an antibody test but she had had all the symptoms in JANUARY!! It ended up coming back POSITIVE 😮😮

I am into my thirteenth week of having CV. I first showed symptoms on the 12th of March. I am a domestic cleaner, was in a lot of homes previous to this. I had burning chest and back, chest pains, body fizzing all over, headaches, diarrhea, shortness of breath, aching all over, fatigue just about everything under the sun. I am 44 active and fairly fit. This is/was no flu/cold. Very scary experience for a single parent, and has changed my outlook on everything. I know two others who had it.

Those who think or are sure they've had it...

Have you had a positive test? Or is it assumed?

I think it would be useful in these threads if that was confirmed as part of the post.

I don't know. I had something in February I said was flu but I really don't think it was. It lingered on for weeks and the coughing was extreme as in being sick ,/cant get breath. Along with high temperature and feeling absolutely wiped out for weeks so it could have been....

I think DS and I had it in late December - obviously we didn't know about Covid-19 then, but we both had all the symptoms. Weakness, fatigue, horrible dry cough, hard to breathe, loss of taste and raging temperature. Neither of us have ever felt so ill. DS is usually strong and healthy, yet I had to call 111 as he was struggling to breathe one night. MIL was also hospitalised as could barely breathe, and diagnosed with a "virus". She also said she'd never felt so poorly.

Those asking how to get an antibody test privately - many private clinics / blood test centres are offering it for between 70-90 quid. I was able to find one locally with a quick google. The place I used had the government approved Roche (Swiss) test

Yes. Self isolated for a week mid March, not tested even though I work in patient facing NHS job. Just had positive antibody test at work this week. Everyone else I work with has been negative

No, not had it despite working throughout as a CPN. I do have a strong immune system though.

My colleague on our side of the bank of desks (there were 3 of us) is convinced that we all had it any time from December through to February. Not entirely convinced but we were all very sick for weeks on end (the 3 of us) and the ongoing fatigue that I still feel is making me think 🤔 well maybe.

I had what I originally thought was a chest infection mid-December, got gradually worse, full on aches, vomiting, diarrhoea, migraines. Could barely sit up, struggled to breathe, wasn't able to walk more than a few feet for nearly a month. Started to feel better then got worse again then I developed pneumonia. Official diagnosis was a viral infection but I do wonder if it was covid, but obviously they weren't testing for it then.

I was really ill til February and still feeling a bit flu like til the end of March. I'm still not 100% feeling myself, still getting out of breath easily and my throat is still delicate, like it's not sore all the time but if I cough it really hurts and some food and drink are painful to swallow, I can't quite hit all the notes I used to when I sing and my breathing is still a bit off (I play the fife, recorder and bugle and I get really dizzy when I play now and long notes bring on coughing fits)

There's a study testing antibody levels in 20,000 people that's up and running. Results won't be out for a while, but it'll give a good indication of how many have already had it, and how long the antibodies stay in your system.

As the lockdown started I had two weeks of really bad breathing difficulties I went through an entire asthma pump a week.
I just had an antibody test that had results in 10m as I work in a school
It came back negative. Bewildered and now concerned as I'm asthmatic.
