To think that housework can be my daily exercise?

I do around 45 - 1 hr of house work per day , probably more , including up and down stairs multiple times a day , hoovering cleaning the floor mopping and Also running around after a 2yo.

I also walk around 3 times a week also for 45 mins , but I would definitely class my cleaning regime as my main exercise ...

My god I sound bonkers.

It wouldn't count for me. I don't think I've ever got my heart rate up or sweat when hoovering, or when doing any housework

I count 10 mins of getting my heart rate up as exercise. Energetic hoovering should work. I have low standards.

It's not exercise as such anymore than going shopping would be.

Unless you suddenly move from a studio flat to a mansion that you'd spend 3 or 4 hours vigorously cleaning every single day.

Walking, it varies. It does absolutely nothing for me, but that's personal. I can see a difference rapidly if I start running whilst even a brisk walk for hours every day for weeks makes.. none.

I think it's actually a big negative to treat housework as exercise because it false the amount of real physical activity you do.

Even when you don't care about exercise you'd still do housework, so literally no increase in steps or anything whatsoever.

Laughing at the posters saying it's minimal exercise. I'm a house cleaner. If you're doing it right, it will keep you toned and fit. It's a full on workout, even clients have said to me that I have no need to go to a gym as they can see how active and fast paced it is to get the work done.

If you work at a continuous fast pace, it will keep you fit, obviously done numerous times a week.

My cleaner is physically fit. She gets through a 4-bed house in 4 hours. She says her job is very physical and she cannot do it forever.

Definitely, on average I do 7k steps cleaning my house it takes 4 hours ( it's a typical 4 bed detached)

Cleaning one house probably is minimal. Your situation is different because your activity is sustained for several hours a day, I imagine.
