To ask if it’s likely she will be admitted

My dd is 25 and has taken a significant overdose. She ran away from home and was found by police and placed on section 136. She’s been in hospital two days and the section 136 was extended to allow the assessment to take place. I would usually attend the assessment as support for her but obviously can’t due to the virus. She’s really worried about being put in hospital again and would like to come
Home with crisis support. I would imagine they don’t really want to put people in hospital if it can be avoided but she’s still worried.

Depends on what support they feel is best to her needs, and why she did what she did and what level of risk she is at. Can,t really answer this one.

It probably depends a lot on the psychiatrist and the intensive home support available. My experience is that if she has a repeated pattern of overdosing/attempts to take her life then admission, some psychiatrists will just discharge on the basis that hospital unlikely to improve anything, even if she is still high risk, because it hasn’t helped before. Others may keep her in on the basis she is not able to be kept safe at home. Sorry, hope she improves either way x

Thank you she really isn’t keen to be admitted to hospital and I’m worried this will make them more likely to section her.

What is in the community that she can access and will engage with? Will she take her medication? Does she have a safe place to live? Does she need assessment and treatment? Does she need treatment she can't or won't access in the community?

It's a horrid time for you I'm sorry you can't be with her

Thank you for response. These nothing in the local acute ward that’s not in the community if anything it’s harder for her to get support when I the unit as so many of the other patients are so unwell that they take up a lot of the staff time
