Being over charged by Tesco - Why?!

Posting for traffic.

The last 2 weeks when I've had my Tesco groceries delivery the amount I've been charged has been over the guide price. Last week I assumed I had an offer which had expired as it was only one pound odd, but the same thing has happened today, again over charged by 1.60 but no reason why. Obviously I'll ring up to query this but wondered if I was missing something obvious? We have delivery saver so don't pay weekly delivery charge.

Surely it’s just the same as before - an offer has expired or a couple of prices have gone up? Or you had some particularly large loose produce that weighed more?
The amount I’m charged regularly fluctuates a little bit from the guide price.

It's a guide price, as you have pointed out. Do you order lose items that are sold by weight, or joints of meat? That's probably where the extra charge has come from.
£1.60 over the guide price seems within the normal limits, if it was £20 then that would be another thing.

MarcelineMissouri · 01/06/2020 08:44

There is a reason it’s called a guide price rather than a confirmed price.

FrodoTheDodo · 01/06/2020 08:45

It's always been like this.

I dont think you need to ring them over £1.60 - can you not just look at your order confirmation email and look at the receipt to work it out yourself?

Anotherchangeanothername · 01/06/2020 08:50

In my experience it comes down to either weight of loose produce or you’ve got a substitute as something was out of stock. If you do have a substitute and you’ve been charged a higher amount you will get a refund in a couple of days

Wejustdontknow · 01/06/2020 08:55

Could it be that you are due a refund that will come back into your bank in a couple of days? They take the balance for your shop before picking it so the balance taken could differ to the confirmed balance afterwards. I had my Asda shop delivered saturday, payment was taken Friday and today I have paid an extra 12p to make the payment correct once they knew the exact amount

Mines almost never exactly the guide price, mostly due to weight variation on fresh produce

SoupDragon · 01/06/2020 08:59

CNt you just compare your order confirmation with the receipt? Or don't you get itemised versions Of those with Tesco.

TypingError · 01/06/2020 09:03

Mine is never on the button. It's a guide subject to price fluctuations. I'd just check the receipt against the guide price and you'll have your answer.
