What is your school planning to do with the Rec, Y1 & Y6 at lunchtime

My school isn't reopening on monday. We have been delayed until 8th. We have been open throughout lockdown for keyworkers children. Roughly about 30 children and 20 cooked meals eaten in dinner hall. As far as I know the reception and year 1 children will be eating cooked dinners in the hall on a bubble rota. I will be supervising 3 bubble groups from reception eat their lunch and then continue supervision outside for the remainder of the lunchtime. Then year 1 will eat after we have left the dinner hall. Year 6 will eat lunch at desks in classroom. I don't know exactly how it will happen as I need to attend a meeting before I start work.
I have been working with keyworkers children and we haven't really been enforcing social distancing up to now. So I have no idea how this will work

What is your school doing. Thanks

Also only packed lunches at desks, either provided by school or home. Supervised by the staff member in charge of their bubble for all breaks. Fuck knows when that poor bugger is supposed to have a break...

paul2louise · 30/05/2020 13:40

"You will start at 11.40am when Foundation Pods(3 of them)come in for lunch. Still doing your 1 contracted hour...if all runs smoothly
All Middays will have their own hand sanitizer to use when on playground,if inside use soap and water.x"

This is my instructions.

Packed lunch in a plastic bag to be eaten at desks or outside. The hall is used for the keyworker bubble.

KKSlider · 30/05/2020 13:47

My DC are across two schools. Both schools have said packed lunches will be eaten at desks in the classroom, only children on income based free school meals will be given a packed lunch by school so those on universal free school meals have to provide their own. Everything in the packed lunch has to be disposable and binned as soon as lunch is finished so no saving anything for breaks or to take home and no lunch boxes/bags.

Each bubble is going to have two teachers, Teacher A does the morning and Teacher B does the afternoon. Teacher B spends the morning setting/marking online work related to their subject for those still learning at home, and Teacher A does the same in the afternoon.

I have reception and year 6, both Eating packed lunches in their bubbles of 10 in classroom or also option of outside.

sociallydistained · 30/05/2020 13:53

Cooked lunch the normal school menu but served in their classroom in their bubbles

laudete · 30/05/2020 14:05

Packed lunches at their desks, for all students. The FSM kids will get packed lunches too. All unnecessary movement will be restricted; each student will remain at their designated desk throughout the day, with a brief outdoor recess in a designated socially distanced zone.

Calabasa · 30/05/2020 14:10

staggered lunch breaks and outside time. its a big school and there are 4 different playgrounds, so they have the room to keep them socially distanced in their groups of 15.

Fuck knows how they'll do it when the others come back >.

RaggieDolls · 30/05/2020 14:11

All packed lunches either brought from home or provided by school. I assume they will eat them at their desk.

Grasspigeons · 30/05/2020 14:13

Our cateres are preparing cold lunches in disposable bags (poor environment!) Our bubbles have 2 staff, one will collect and bring lunch to the bubble classroom or putside in the shade if its nice weather. Lunches will be staggard to help with thst. Staff 1 will eat with the children whilst staff 2 has a half hour break. Then they swap.

MintIceLolly · 30/05/2020 14:14

Everyone going back is going to be given either a sandwich or a wrap in their classroom supervised by the TA for the bubble. TA will then swap with the teacher or other TA if someone has 1-1 and the bubble go outside on a rota for 20 minutes.

Lunch is usually made by an external provider who've been furloughed so no idea when we'll start getting hot food in school again, we're not even getting a proper packed lunch, just a sandwich or a wrap. No drink. That'll be the water we have to provide.

CallmeAngelina · 30/05/2020 14:15

When will all you staff get your own break then?

TheTrollFairy · 30/05/2020 14:20

I’m not wanting to be argumentative or anything just curious (as I have a 4y/o so looking at how things will work) why you are allowed to work between 3 bubbles? Doesn’t this defeat the point of a bubble? As someone from bubble 1 can spread the virus to you who then carries this to bubble 2 and 3?

CallmeAngelina · 30/05/2020 14:25

TheTrollFairy, You're right. We have this set-up with quite a few staff in my school, whereby they're working between 2 or 3 bubbles and it is wrong. Head is adamant that's how it is going to be though.
🤷‍♀️

TheTrollFairy · 30/05/2020 14:31

@CallmeAngelina I can imagine it being really tough for teachers/schools. They really do have my sympathy because they want kids back in school and learning whilst trying to remain safe and without too many disruptions to not scare the children whilst trying to appease the government, please the parents and also needing to protect themselves.
On top of that, returning to work for many is reliant on schools reopening.

Epigram · 30/05/2020 14:34

Packed lunch eaten at their desk.

Outdoor play with staggered times so each bubble is outside separately.

Outdoor play equipment has been separated and labelled so that each bubble has their own stuff to play with.

DreamingofBrie · 30/05/2020 14:34

Packed lunch in a cool bag with ice pack, to be provided by home. To be eaten at desk in classroom, supervised by teacher. Not sure if they will eat outdoors.

Piratefairy78 · 30/05/2020 14:36

Packed lunch at desks. Those having a school dinner have had to order it In advance (usual process) and it will be delivered to their classroom by the mdsa allocated to that class/bubble. Mdsa then covers the lunch break for that class whilst the teacher/ta has their break. I should add that the mdsa is solely allocated to that bubble.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 30/05/2020 14:43

School I work in: no hot dinners. Packed lunches at individual desks, kept under table during the morning, eaten at desk, desk cleaned after child goes out for their playtime. Hard plastic lunchboxes strenuously encouraged as easy to clean thoroughly.

School my kids go to: school dinners in the hall. No packed lunches allowed. Bubbles sit 2m apart but kids are shoulder to shoulder within bubble. 60 kids in hall at once. (Well, there won't be, because I doubt every single parent is sending their child back but school hasn't asked so 60 is the plan) Sounds grim.

YangShanPo · 30/05/2020 14:44

We are doing cooked meals delivered to classrooms by midday meals supervisors. I think it's going to be hard work for everyone doing it this way.

myself2020 · 30/05/2020 14:47

Packed lunches provided by school. eaten picknick style outside whenever possible (school has huge grounds), otherwise in classroom

HungryKoala · 30/05/2020 14:49

Hot lunches to be eaten in Classroom. No idea yet how we're getting the lunches from the kitchen to the classroom or how this will work with the children who have allergies to certain foods as usually the school cook deals directly with these. Used trays and cutlery to be taken back to the kitchen for washing.

Beebie2 · 30/05/2020 14:54

Cooked lunches/ sandwiches but delivered to classrooms.

@JockTamsonsBairns
I thought schools were obligated to provide free school lunches for those who are eligible?

Does anyone know if universal school meals will be available for the Rec and Y1 pupils who are returning? I have no children who bring a pack up in my class, they all access the free meal. Or has this been quietly scrapped?

CallmeAngelina · 30/05/2020 15:13

Can I ask again, when do teaching staff get their own lunch break?

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 30/05/2020 15:15

We were having one adult per bubble but then I raised the issue of breaks and toilet breaks. It was then changed to a teacher plus a TA to each bubble so we cover each other for breaks.
