i just saw two council workers, one driving the van, the other collecting from the dog poo bins.
they were not 2 metre apart in the van,
they were not wearing masks

@CrowdedHouseinQuarantine

Can't the lab ask you to work further away? can't the council workers wear masks in close proximity?
There is no 'further away' to work in. Limited space available. There was talk of getting us visors but not sure if they have materialised yet as I've been on annual leave. We can easily have 10-12 people in an area of about 15ft squared. We wear lab coats and gloves and of course practice hand hygiene religiously but nothing we can do otherwise.
Gabrielknight · 28/05/2020 14:09

Nope. There's 6 of us on a very small office. But we have no other choice.

TerrapinStation · 28/05/2020 14:12

@vodkaredbullgirl

All of us at work have been tested and we are all clear.
Unless you all now go into isolation that doesn't mean anything, you could catch it the next day.

Most people who've been going out to work probably haven't been keeping the distance but coming within 2m of someone else doesn't mean you'll become infected, infection numbers are appearing to be fairly constant and lowish, current working conditions don't appear to be too risky on the whole

you were at the time of the test - who knows if you still are since then.

I'm not sure what you're saying, your post doesn't make sense, either you go shopping or you don't and masks are to protect others from you in case you have the virus, you know you don't so you don't need a mask, you aren't protecting yourself by wearing one
Soubriquet · 28/05/2020 14:37

No

We are supposed to and the staff enforced it the first week, but then everyone just went sod it. It made the job too difficult and almost impossible to do to their standard when we had to stay 2 metres apart

lymphopenia · 28/05/2020 14:40

Doctor. We don't wear PPE all the time because it's too hot. We do around patients but not in offices or in social spaces. The PPE is crap anyway.

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/05/2020 14:43

Questions question questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont go to supermarkets, I get online orders. Work have asked all of us to wear masks when we go shopping. I wear a mask if i go to the corner shop (not that it is a corner shop).

I work nights, to it is probably easier to keep distance from people I work with.

Flowersinthewild · 28/05/2020 14:44

Have to work with many people and hard to keep any kind of distance. When a meeting is called we are slightly not on top of each other but still closer then what is recommended.

JorisBonson · 28/05/2020 14:59

I'm a police officer and have no choice in the matter when it comes to who I'm in a car with.

Everyone being fairly sensible in offices etc.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 28/05/2020 15:01

I can't. It's impossible. I mean, where we can, we do, but mostly it's impossible. What we are fucking excellent at is handwashing and hand sanitising though. Our hands are sore and dry and look awful but my god they are clean!

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 28/05/2020 15:09

No. We socially distance from customers and clean and sanitise like something demented but it's just not possible to keep two metres from each other. The store is quite small. We have a new computer system which no one is trained on so we're constantly hanging over each others shoulders or squashing behind the same desk trying to see the screen to help each other and since there's only 2 of us, I figure it's a low risk.

stardance · 28/05/2020 15:16

I'm on furlough but I'm pretty sure my colleagues still at work won't be staying 2m apart at all times. It wouldn't be possible.

Snaketime · 28/05/2020 16:11

I work in a small shop, it is impossible to maintain a 2 metre distance with your work colleague at all times. Generally there is one on the tills and one putting stock out, so not close together, but if we are both needed on the tills to serve customers then we cannot keep 2 metres apart, the area behind the tills is very narrow and the tills arent 2 metres apart anyway, then you add in the fact if a customer wants lottery or cigarettes then you have to get closer to each other to get them. We have masks, but I personally don't wear it as I wear glasses and with the mask on my glasses fog up and I cant see, without my glasses I cant see properly, gloves make stocking the shelves near impossible, we have signs to block off aisles that we are sticking up but the customers ignore it and walk right up to you anyway. It is just impossible.

LesbianMummies · 28/05/2020 16:37

NHS staff so no, it’s physically impossible.
