I knew it would be hard sending the kids back to school but it seems like everything is getting worse at the moment rather than better.

In a nutshell I'm going back to my regular working hours next week, as is ex-husband. We both have key worker status but now the school my kids are at, are having one day a week off. In regular lockdown it was fine - they were just in the reduced provision all week but now it looks like I might have to find childcare for one day a week. And then of course there's the added anxiety that because no one is taking it seriously anymore we're all going to get sick.

I'm at the stage of just saying fuck it, if I can't make it work no one's going anywhere. AIBU for feeling this way?

I'm not sire that the school is allowed to do that to key workers children. I think it has to be full time provision? I'd go back to them and query exactly what their plans are.

DSs school will be fully open to KW children including before and after school care and bank holidays. All through half term as well.

I feel you OP, mine have been in keyworker school all along (lone parent NHS) and today I got an email that they are starting staggered start/end times for different bubbles so their hours are now 9-2.30 on 4 days a week and 9-12 the other day. I didn't think opening to more kids would mean cutting keyworker kids provision Sad

Any chance of changing your hours, nine day fortnight or something? Sorry if that's impossible, I do know how hard it is. I've spent most of this week thinking fuck it, why do I try to make it all work then all the jigsaw pieces keep getting chopped up and moved around? Flowers

That's exactly what it's like, nothing. I'm sure there's a way round it. My employers have been really tolerant and good about organising hours around the childcare but I'm sure at some point they'll get fed up of it. Sometimes I feel I would be better off if I didn't work.

Our local school isn't opening at all due to lack of staff and space. Niece and nephew weren't going back anyway but can imagine it will be a nightmare for parents once we come out of lockdown
