To think that the Govt response to Cummings saga is worse than the actual breach of lockdown

DC broke lockdown twice. I think that this is universally accepted.

This is one thing, its bad but an apology probably would have sufficed and a resignation or sacking would have solved the issue. Done and dusted

However the nonsense about how he didnt break lockdown, how the PM and cabinet ig nore press questions and continuously lie.

As if anyone with half a brain is going to believe he drove 60 miles to test eyesight on what happened to be his wifes birthday.

Its as if the government are treating people as if they are fools this is making it much much worse.

They could have acknowledged the breach of the rules. Instead they have attempted to lie continuously.

Why cant they just admit he fucked up. I can accept that but I cant accept the nonsense being spewed by the govt.

Even if this eyesight excuse was remotely true surely he would have gone on his own for the 'test' and not put his wife and child at risk. The whole thing and how it's been handled is an absolute disgrace.

It doesn't matter. They have a large majority and no general election for 4 years. Doesnt matter a huge amount what they do.

DC will ride it out. BJ will rely of delivering Brexit to carry him through. In four 4years time the Panademic (hopefully) and DC will give way to other matters.

They're wont be a slew of resignations because most conservative MPs know this.

We can froth and outrage all we want. We are right. It doesn't matter anyway

I'm getting quite worried this is detracting us from something huge.

Sadly, you’re spot on.

Yes I think @Hazelnutlatteplease is correct.

The80sweregreat · 27/05/2020 10:17

Hazel I agree totally!

If British politics since 2016 were the plot of a satirical television series it'd have been cancelled due to viewers finding it too far fetched.

this wot @AllImissnowisthesea said

and then the article that @BirdieFriendReturns posted.

It's not the same as the government lifting lockdown. This way, they get people to ease up on lockdown, spread the virus more. If the next wave is unmanageable, they can blame people breaking the rules and eg visiting beaches.

That's why it's so important that DC hasnt broken rules.

Oh and of course if they themselves get it, tests and intensive care beds will be available. So it all good really, so long as people, esp pesky teachers get back to normal pronto.

What's next? Gaslighting us about:

food standards as part of the deal with the US

No customs border in the Irish Sea.

How did it come to this?

FinallyHere · 27/05/2020 10:41

Oh and cost to the NHS for pharmaceuticals will rise too.
