I have been trying to buy more British made products, are there any British made brands you would really recommend?

I find as many are small scale it's not always that easy to find them.

Some of the ones I have found and really like are

Netherton foundry (bought a great bbq chapa)
Bradley's Tannery (brilliant garden gloves)
Ark (leather products good for presents and v affordable)
Southcombe gloves

Ideas of any sort of product would be appreciated Smile

Eric and Albert wooden figures hand made in Britain.

Lordfrontpaw · 26/05/2020 09:59

Galt toys? I think they were sold about 7 years ago so may not be British owned any more.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/05/2020 10:05

Celtic Sheepskin, for slippers, boots, and a lot else made in Cornwall.

Many of the skins used are also from local sheep.

Customer service also excellent!

Orchard games are made in the UK and are made from recycled cardboard too. They do a huge selection of games and jigsaws.

Round here (SW) there are lots of local breweries that have online shops that deliver. Probably some in many areas I imagine.

FraughtwithGin · 26/05/2020 10:22

Dartington Glass
Edinburgh Gin
Ardbeg Whisky
Quicke's Farm Cheese
Marmite

Find your local farmers' market for meat, cheese, bakery goods. (Some stallholders actually come over from Europe, but you can see exactly where things come from). Farm shops good as well.

The Rocking Sheep Company - (expensive) rocking horses in shape of shee
Dr Zigs bubbles

CorianderLord · 26/05/2020 11:44

Yorkshire Soap Company

Concert Spirit for gin

Don’t think Seasalt clothes are made in the U.K., sorry.

ChaoticCatling · 26/05/2020 11:55

I buy local when I can, mostly food from the farmers' market and local dairy. Some of our nearby pubs are running as shops at the moment and selling food by local producers.

Yes orchard! We had so many of these when ds was little. Pop to the shops was my his favourite

Nuffaluff · 26/05/2020 12:28

Etsy is great for this sort of thing. You can search for UK based businesses. There are lots of small local businesses on there selling things at competitive prices.
My lovely skincare from ‘The Little Green Company’ arrived this morning. It’s gorgeous stuff.

mbosnz · 26/05/2020 12:29

Chapel Down wines.

Op can we be clear - are you asking for British owner brands or British made goods?

If you are after British made then some things are easy eg household cleaners, toiletries, food. Most supermarkets will clearly label which foods are British - I am fortunate that it’s rare that I have to choose a cheaper import. Clothes are harder - I tend to look for fair trade rather than British as that is easier. Shoes I go European rather than Far East as the chances of better ethics are greater. I think Hotter has British made but I don’t like there style.

Curver does plastic goods British made.

My point is when you need something put into google the thing and British made then read the small print carefully.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 26/05/2020 13:31

I use a sulphate free shampoo & silicon free conditioner brand called Kind Natured, made by a british company called Swallowfield PLC. Think the factory is in Devon.

flooredbored · 26/05/2020 13:49

@MrsPear It is items manufactured in Britain I am interested in.

The tartan blanket company. Ds bought me a gorgeous yellow throw for our bed as a wedding anniversary gift.

mum2jakie · 26/05/2020 14:05

I've mentioned them before as they are a local company to me but British Boxers sell underwear and pyjamas and manufacture most items in the UK.
