Hi I'm not on my own my partner is here we have an 8 month old baby she is exclusively breastfeeding though - I can't get off the floor or move my lower left back is completely seized up.

Partner tried assisting me to walk but I can't do it and now on all fours on the floor unable to move !! Any slight movement is agony - any tips?!

I think the lump is a sign you need to ring for medical advice and get a proper diagnosis. Do it now; I put it off for six weeks and then got it sorted in a single appointment - six weeks of agony when I could just have got it fixed in an hour! Flowers

I would concur that if you have a lump you should seek medical help. Ring your GP, or out of hours if your GP doesn't work bank holidays (I assume GPs don't but am not sure).

I think the lump means you need proper medical advice OP - that suggests it’s not just a muscle spasm. I would call 111 ASAP and take it from there.

People are being encouraged to see their doctors when necessary at the moment, so don’t let CV put you off.

Hope you feel better soon!

SinkGirl · 25/05/2020 10:52

That doesn’t sound right - I get swelling around upper back muscles sometimes but not a big hard lump. Definitely call 111 now

Piffle11 · 25/05/2020 11:48

I had something similar last month, without the lump. Rang GP and got a telephone consultation. He texted some exercises to do once I was more mobile again, and DHL went and picked up a prescription for me for painkillers. Really helped. Ring your GP.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 25/05/2020 11:53

Don’t breastfeed if taking naproxen.

Hope you have obtained medical assistance.

Baaaahhhhh · 25/05/2020 12:03

Take strong painkillers and get moving. The worst thing you can do is stay lying down. Once the initial sharp pain has gone, get up and go for a gentle walk, even just round the garden if you have one. Then alternate with gentle back exercises, pulling your legs up to your chest, and rolling them side to side. Look on-line, you will see what to do. Just do everything really gently, but often. When you rest, lying on a hot water bottle is really good.

Thisismytimetoshine · 25/05/2020 12:07

That lump is very worrying. Please get medical help, op. Don't mask this with painkillers.

SinkGirl · 25/05/2020 12:07

Yes, you can take naproxen and breastfeed

I have it to for a week now.

Went to a&e on Saturday put kn Morphine for 3 days still no difference.
I can't walk by myself
Taken baths shower hot patch cold patch.
The one bit off relief I get is cold pack.
I hope you get more relief than I'm getting

iklboo · 25/05/2020 12:26

You need to see someone ASAP. The lump isn't normal. Forgive the question but how are your bowels & bladder tone? Can you 'clench' them or stop you wee mid-flow? You need to be aware of cauda equina syndrome. Hope you get some help soon.

QuestionableMouse · 25/05/2020 17:35

Advising the OP to do exercise when you don't know what's wrong with her is misguided at best and irresponsible at worst!

cologne4711 · 25/05/2020 17:38

The lump is probably a muscle knot, but do call your GP out of hours service.

cologne4711 · 25/05/2020 17:40

Actually you need access to an osteopath, hopefully they will be able to reopen soon.

I did something to my back last year (not nearly as bad as you, but I couldn't eg bend very far). After I saw an osteopath the next day it was 90% better, though it took 6 weeks to be completely better.

QuestionableMouse · 25/05/2020 17:49

No she needs xrays at least and maybe more scans depending on what they show.
