To not buy my son narrow width shoes?

He recently started walking (beginning of lockdown) and therefore has been wearing pram shoes due to no shops being open.
Have just measured him (at home) and he's measuring a narrow width which leaves us with very little choice.
Just wondering if it would be super cruel to buy him regular width shoes? Is there a massive difference?

@JudgeRindersMinder awwww ok now you mention . I'm a little bit older than your dd and I sort of remember that the last couple of years of needing school shoes, there Wasn't as much choice. But put it down to I wanted a different more grown up type of shoe, rather than those lovely summer sandals they did

Do you need loads of choice? It's a pair of baby shoes

I think becoming an expert in your child's feet is the best thing you can do.

I tried Startright, Clarke's etc with my children's shoes- many times as I felt guilt tripped into believing that this would be the best thing for my kids' feet.
I ended up buying a lot of badly fitting shoes from these stores.

The Happy Little Soles website allows you to sort by width, and quite a few of the brands they stock are European and come up narrow.

This is the most important time for your babies feet to be properly supported while they are growing and he is learning to walk. Why wouldn’t you buy barrow shoes? Yes the choice is limited but there are options. Clark’s outlet online have some bargains sometimes.

Badly fitting shoes are hellish.

Shoes that are too loose in any direction will be sloppy, unsupportive and make moving less natural and painful.

I have stupidly wide feet, but a comparatively narrow heel and it eliminates any kind of slip off on shoe as they have no security and I may as well rub a cheese grater on the back of my ankle and be done with it.

A poor fit is also a false economy as it will wear out quicker from a foot shifting inside.

Try independent shops over the likes of Clarkes. My DCs have slow growing feet and the shoes would fall apart before they were grown out of.

One of mine has very narrow feet and another very wide feet (Clarks H didn't come close) I was advised to look at Italian shoes for the narrow one and German for the wide. It actually worked really well.
