Does anyone else see pictures instead of emotions?

When I was a kid and I was lonely or anxious, I used to tell my dm that 'the wolves were in the wood, waiting.' Now if I feel scared, my mind immediately goes to that silhouette of a rat under the baby's cot in Lady and the Tramp, with it's horrible glowing eyes.
I've realised my dd is the same, when she was 3 she described a headache as 'a hedgehog is in my head and he's scratching my brain with his brain with his toes!' Similarly she described a stomach ache as 'an apple pip stuck in my belly that's growing and growing!'
Please tell me your visual feelings

Could the apple be to do with snow white??

I was scared as a little one after hearing that story!

I'm loving this thread btw! What an amazing way for your emotions to appear!!

BrokenBrit · 23/05/2020 11:05

This is so amazing! I love hearing about it.
I think in words and music and don’t really ‘see’ pictures so it it especially fascinating to me.

"I think in words and music and don’t really ‘see’ pictures so it it especially fascinating to me."

most mumsnetters will be more like that. It's all words here isn't it compared to other forums.

BertiesLanding · 23/05/2020 11:09

This is how I see numbers and dates, more or less:

@huntinthehornybacktoad I'm a Reddit person, are you?

OP posts:
Doublevodka · 23/05/2020 11:10

I don't experience any of this but I'm fascinated by it. I don't have a creative bone in my body sadly and wonder if it's something to do with this. My DD is very creative so I'm now off to ask her if she experiences anything like this.

BertiesLanding · 23/05/2020 11:11

@Want2beme - Is this how you see days of the week?

I see certain elements of my life in pictures. For example, time is a glass staircase in space, and I can travel up and down it, and visualise where I am, what has been and what is to come. I also see all the words I speak run past in my head like subtitles, and I count letters in words often too.

BertiesLanding · 23/05/2020 11:14

I've found my people! Grin

whatshebininagain · 23/05/2020 11:20

Similar but I see weeks as a "wheel" and months of the year as more linear.

My Wednesday's are yellowy-orange.

Fallsballs · 23/05/2020 11:22

I see days of the week and months in a picture - the same one and always have done and my mood changes when I think of the picture.
I feel things in pictures and sensations of feeling bigger or smaller depending on my mood. Colours are important too but like a pp I can’t express this in art or creativity - it’s all in my brain.

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 23/05/2020 11:25

Wednesdays are very obviously brown.

iano · 23/05/2020 11:34

Days of the week are horizontal. The months are a hill with the top being July and August.
Wednesday is green. Obvs! [bangs gravel] Wink

BertiesLanding · 23/05/2020 11:36

I think it's very hard to express these things in pictures - well the time ones anyway - because they aren't entirely concrete. For me, there's a picture, but it's based on a "felt sense" of time rather than originating with the picture.

Also, I think there's a difference between being visual and being creative. Some are both, some are one, some are neither.

PunishmentSnart · 23/05/2020 11:40

My Wednesday is green

BoujiSnail · 23/05/2020 11:41

I get strange things with music too. My internal song is constantly mysterious girl by Peter Andre. So that oh woah woah woah note is how I see the year, I see it like some long drawn out song which frames time. Then I see Band on the Run by Wings as my maternal love, so whenever I think of my children I hear the first few chords of that song. It's difficult to explain but I just hear these songs constantly in my head and I can see a long golden string of time going through past and present. God I feel mental reading this back.

Wednesday is green, Friday is deep red, Saturday is a yellowy/bright colour and Sunday is navy blue. Monday is bright blue and Tuesday a sort of maroon/mustardy colour

nonevernotever · 23/05/2020 13:24

This is a fabulous thread. A question for all of the people who can do this. How do you dream? I don't have any of these abilities and I'm just wondering now if it's not a coincidence that most of my dreams are more feelings or words and not particularly visual. There are sometimes some images, but always quite limited and I think usually static images rather than a film. It's like reading a book but with a few photos stuck between the pages

Jasmineben · 23/05/2020 13:29

That’s so lovely OP!

NooneElseIsSingingMySong · 23/05/2020 13:42

I don’t get the visions for feelings but I do see people as animals! I don’t tell them though, when I did did people took offence!

MintyChapstick · 23/05/2020 13:50

Ive always seen days of the week and numbers in colour as well. So for example Saturday has always been bright yellow. My Tuesday was always brown and Monday pale grey.

How weird.

MintyChapstick · 23/05/2020 14:12

I also used to see places as objects. For example there's a village near where I live that as a child I'd always see a sausage roll! I know the sounds competley ridiculous.

BoujiSnail · 23/05/2020 14:43

@nonevernotever yes my dreams are very vivid. Some are recurring, some are really elaborate.

blueshoes · 25/05/2020 15:48

Do any of these gifts translate into real world uses. For example, does the ability to see time make you very good at remembering dates of events and people's birthdays? or Math?

Want2beme · 25/05/2020 17:11

BertiesLanding, no, my week looks something like this. Quite brutal, reallyShock
