To be dismayed by the overuse of the word "vile" these days?

Everything it seems is now "vile". If a person displays slightly untoward behaviour they are "vile". People failing to correctly maintain social distancing? "Vile people." Venal social media types posting doctored shots to get likes? "Utterly vile".

What is it with the overuse of this word?

Does anyone who overused it realise it's actually a word to be used to describe with particular emphasis someone who forces a real reaction; someone who is deeply unpleasant?

Myra Hindley is vile. John Worboys is vile. I don't think a person who steals potted plants is "vile".

AIBU to dislike this kind of word inflation?

Big shock people use hyperbole to illustrate strong feelings.
Do you also have an issue with people saying they hate something?
