I'm one of the leaders in guide group and I know I can Google this but I want the opinion of real people. The girls are 11-15 and are a mixture of White, Black and Asian British (this is relevant) As part of an activity I would like to introduce them to some real life female superheroes that kind of reflect them so a good variety women from different back grounds who have achieved great things. I don't even mind if they are dead or alive but inspirational is key. Im thinking scientists , speakers, political figures or actors /singers. Not women who have become famous for their looks (although if they are it doesn't matter)but for their intellect or bravery or their contribution to the world.....so no Kardashians. Thank you for your help.

Dame Whina Cooper - the instigator and leader of a hikoi (march) that was instrumental in Maori in NZ regaining their land and ensuring the Treaty of Waitangi was treated as a living and founding document.

Helen Clark - a former PM of NZ who was (and is) a strong, principled leader, and Administrator of the UN Development Programme from 2009 to 2017.

Jacinda Ardern (natch'), not just for her leadership in the Pandemic Crisis, but also her leadership after the March 15 Terrorist attack.

Pink. She's a great role model for being yourself, but not being an arsehole while being yourself. She seems an incredible parent, also.

The White Mouse, AKA Nancy Wake.

And so many of the usual suspects who have already been named!

(I never realised what an incredible statistician and mathematician Florence Nightingale was until recently).

Dolly Parton.

In a Country Music 'Man's World' she made it. She kept the rights to her songs.

She adopts to changing tastes and styles of music.

She plays a multitude of instruments.

Moved into films when country music became less popular.

She regularly duets with other women and never puts them down.

She always smiles and never complains in public.

Now she has set up the Dolly Parton Imagination Library giving books to children to get them reading.

She set up Dollywood theme park and employs family, friends and locals to give them jobs.

And she can belt out a tune.

Truly inspirational.
