To think that the Royal Family have a golden opportunity here

Prince Charles has compared the crisis of harvesting with the 2nd world war efforts.

HM the Queen served in WW2 and remains the only decorated monarch in Europe.

Can you imagine if members of the RF volunteered to pick fruit and veg etc how hugely successful they would turn around their rather battered image of late?

If it stops them going on about mental health I'd be all for it. Talking about your feelings can only go so far when you're sick with anxiety over not being able to pay the bills.

l don’t think a bit of dirt bothers Charles

Well, I’ve seen hundreds of photos of Charlie looking immaculate in cream or white, but aside from ceremonial tree planting, I’ve never seen a photo of him doing anything muddy or gritty. But who knows what he gets up to in the privacy of his own garden.
However, for someone who has led a life of indulgent luxury to be encouraging the rest of us to get out and do some “hard graft” I feel is a bit much.

YABU, but only because they've gone beyond saving. People have increasingly seen through the scam, and if the Windsors tried that one on it would be seen through straightaway as a transparent PR exercise. But rapping out recommendations that others do what they have no intention of doing themselves? Who thought that was a good idea? Are they really out of touch enough to believe people will just unquestioningly comply?

They're not bright enough to know when to stop talking, but you'd expect their highly-paid advisors to tip them off as to when it's a good idea to shut up. Still, if this is contributing to their digging their own graves as an institution then I won't be the person to discourage them.

@MrsFogi....Have you sold off any of your personal.assers yet? If not get to it

anothernamechangeagain · 19/05/2020 19:16

The amount of security required for William and Kate etc. to do something like that would be ridiculous and make it not worthwhile and a complete pr exercise

^*Imagine if Harry and Meghan chose this moment to comeback to the UK and pick fruit?

All would be forgiven and their position as the nation’s if not the world’s favourite royals cemented....*^

Not a chance. They'd be criticised all over the media for only doing it as a PR job, that they shouldn't have travelled, they should be in quarantine, where's the baby, have they paid for her mum or a nanny to travel too, and on it would go. They'd be saying they were trying to overshadow Catherine and William, and why haven't they been to visit family, etc.

Not way would our media treat it as a positive story.

"So blood donation rather than picking fruit for Prince Charles"

He's too old. It cuts off at 70 (assuming he's an existing donor - new registrations only up to 66)

Legoandloldolls · 19/05/2020 19:22

I picked fruit as a kid. I still remember my hands being shredded by bastard raspberry bushes. They need to take the marigolds is my advice. Also find a good chiropractor.

This suggestion always comes up on these threads - ignoring the fact that the average Mnetter won't have dozens of houses, cars, antiques and jewels sitting around unused, unlike the Royals.
