Can anyone recognise this rash? Have had a look online and I suspect it’s heat rash but can’t say for definite. Anxious about the Kawasaki stories Sad

It’s all over her back and legs, she had a big scream in the shower and again when I put aveeno cream her. She winces when I touch it now too!

Help please Sad

Couple of things to check, is she alert, breathing (use of accessory muscles)and pulse ok?. Check temp, if high, strip off, cool down and give paaracetamol No cold baths. It's most likely viral, but if in any doubt 111, 999 or A&E

Shazzanat · 18/05/2020 21:01

Take her to A+E OP

TheTigerQueen · 18/05/2020 21:08

Hope shes is ok, you can never be too cautious with kids in my opinion, best to get checked at the moment.

Burntoutboobout · 18/05/2020 21:11

All good! They’ve said to just monitor her but it just sounds like either heat or contact rash going by the pain! She also has no other symptoms. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Thank you all for your help ❤️

If you concerned take her to a and e.
Looks like heat rash.

Kawasaki seems to be redder

Devlesko · 18/05/2020 21:17

OP, keep your eye on her, my dd (16) was similar, she has had covid toes for about 8 weeks now.
They keep going better then return again.
We called gp and they said take her for a test if we are bothered.
She didn't want to go so we didn't.
Anyway, check her toes, it looks like small raised spots, doesn't hurt, no other symptoms. Then they start to go pink, then red, then black dead skin like scabs.

skylarkdescending · 18/05/2020 21:27

Op my DD had a blotchy rash all over her back and stomach at the weekend which looks similar to that. She also had a temp for 12ish hours.

We called 111 and they said to monitor it but that they had had lots of babies/young children reporting the same thing in the last fortnight. They said it was viral even though DD hasn't been out anywhere since the start of lockdown (except for daily walk) and we haven't had contact with any other household!

It only lasted a couple of days and by this morning it had cleared up so hoping that's done with.

Cyberattack · 18/05/2020 21:31

Take her to A&E now.

mumwon · 18/05/2020 21:37

has she been playing in the garden- sap & even touching some plants can cause a reaction

Toomuchtrouble4me · 18/05/2020 21:39

I'm not saying don't call 111 - you should get advice, or do a video call with an online GP - but my 4 children have had LOADS of unexplained viral rashes over the years - perfectly harmless. Get some advice but unless there are other symptoms - high fever, listlessness, blue tinge, I really wouldn;t worry. 111 will probably tell you to go to hospital anyway. I would try to get an online video consultation so that a GP can see her.

hoolydooly · 18/05/2020 21:39

Why are so many people saying A and E for a rash?!
The child apparently has no fever and is otherwise well, and the OP has not said it does not blanch.

I am not trying to be argumentative, but I am baffled as kids get rashes all the time. I am a fairly anxious mum of 4, so I've called the GP about rashes a fair few times in the past, but A and E was never recommended unless there were other concerning symptoms.

Obviously, OP, if you feel something is off then I absolutely am not discouraging you from seeking attention.

I am just genuinely amazed that so many people would go to A and E with this.

Freddiefox · 18/05/2020 21:40

How is she in herself? Does she have a temp? Is she sleepy, or hard to wake?

hoolydooly · 18/05/2020 21:40

@Toomuchtrouble4me
How odd, we cross-posted with our 4 kids and many unexplained rashes!

Allfednonedead · 18/05/2020 21:40

Two out of my three get heat rash that looks like that, so I wouldn't worry too much. If 111 just said to monitor, that seems sensible.
Do you have a thermometer? I'd be taking her temperature obsessively, but that's because my husband bought a fancy one that's fun to use.

Tinyhumansurvivalist · 18/05/2020 21:49

Glad you called 111, does your dd have eczema?

My daughter gets a raw pin prick rash as a result of urticaria reactions (basically a hypersensitivity to histamine produced by her body) and she screams blue murder when I put cream on her. Think putting vinegar in a cut type pain.

Piriton should help ease it.

Secil · 18/05/2020 21:51

Has she been outside today? On grass? Or in the sun?

Amummyatlast · 18/05/2020 21:54

I agree hoolydooly. Mine often gets a random rash (sensitive skin) and I’ve never needed to take her to A&E just because of it.

Reversiblesequinsforadults · 18/05/2020 21:56

I'd give her an antihistamine (piriton or similar) and watch her temperature. If she seems well, then I wouldn't worry. Any other more serious symptoms, particularly aversion to light or neck stiffness then straight to A&E. Have you done the glass test for meningitis? I don't think it is but always worth checking.

maleficent53 · 18/05/2020 21:59

Have we all gone mad, make sure she is drinking give calpol and piriton and keep an eye on her as suggested by 111. Take care hope rash has resolved tomorrow

gamerchick · 18/05/2020 22:00

Why are so many people saying A and E for a rash?!

Because we're in the twilight zone.

Crimsonnightlotus · 18/05/2020 22:07

As far as I know, very distinctive sign of Kawasaki disease is red/strawberry like tongue and red hand and read feet, as well as having viral infection prior.

EarringsandLipstick · 18/05/2020 22:15

OP glad your little one is ok.

@hoolydooly couldn't agree more, but didn't dare to post this earlier. When I saw the first few responses - 111, now; A&E, NOW - I couldn't quite believe it.

If the rash was accompanied by other symptoms, that would be different; and that rash definitely had nothing related to meningitis-type rash.

geojojo · 18/05/2020 22:18

My son had that exact same rash the other day. He had no other symptoms and in the morning it had faded. My daughter had a very high temperature a few days before. I hope your daughter is fine. Children do get rashes all the time but good you checked it out.

Crimsonnightlotus · 18/05/2020 22:32

hoolydooly, I think it's because of scaremongering articles and posts on internet. People are genuinely scared, and it's quite understandable. That is why those posts are so harmful.
