Priority shop availability

I am currently shopping for my family and another friend who is on the vulnerable list. He cannot leave his house due to an existing lung condition. He recently told me he has a priority number he can use to do online food shopping. Up until now I have been shopping for both households weekly. He is however not wanting to use his priority delivery slot as he would prefer food from the shop I am shopping at. I don’t think he has even looked to see if there are any slots free. I am happy to continue to support my friend but as I have a 2 year old, work part time and my husband is also high risk I would like to think he might looking into sorting out his own shopping some weeks now he has this number. I don’t think it’s unreasonable that if he has this opportunity he tries to use it, as I don’t have that choice. Similarly I don’t think it’s fair to ask me to continue shopping for certain items just because he prefers certain brands. I have my own family’s health to think of too. AIBU?

He's being selfish and you are allowing it to continue.

YANBU
I have a shielding person, I’m so grateful we have priority slots. I can’t buy things I would usually buy and the things I am buying have pushed our weekly shopping bill up at least £25 but sometimes £40 a week. No way would I ask someone else to go and get our usual shopping when we are lucky enough to get priority slots.
They are BVU. Tell them you can’t do it anymore & they have to use their slots.

Thanks for your responses!

@Idododoidadada May I ask how you've found getting a delivery slot with your priority number? I’m not sure how difficult my friend will find it to get a delivery in our area (we’re not rural but I don’t know how many priority slots there are)

@ECBC It was pretty simple with Asda, I just went onto the recurring slot and picked the day and time and it came up that that will now be my deliver day and time until October!

I was about to tell my friend we will only do his shopping when he can’t get his priority slot. It appears the next one is not available for several weeks so it looks like I’m still shopping for him in the short term.

Have you actually gone online and checked out availability of shopping slots? I was chatting on messenger with a friend yesterday and she said -even though she has no health issues/priority slots-she has managed to book shopping slots for herself with no problem. The new slots seem to be released just a couple of weeks at a time she had been securing slots on the dot of midnight but I think she said it’s now 10pm when the next slots are released. Worth a look, he might just be saying that to keep you doing the shopping!

Thank you, I have had a look. There are some click and collect ones before the date he mentioned but no delivery ones. He can’t leave his house so they’re not suitable.
