To think this can’t be right? Weight loss related.

I’m on a mission to lose my baby weight because my ‘baby’ turns 10 soon Grin. To be fair, it’s only about 4lbs I want to lose.

So over the last week I’ve done the first 3 runs of couch to 5k, been horse riding twice and been on some long walks. This is a lot more exercise than I usually do, especially as I’ve recently recovered from the virus and was pretty much just sat on my arse for a few weeks.

I’ve also been careful about what I’ve been eating, I wouldn’t say no carbs but have been a lot more mindful about how many carbs I eat, and not had any sugar.

I’ve also pretty much stopped drinking, I used to drink every night (3 or 4 cans), but in the last week I’ve only had a drink on one night.

Just weighed myself and I’ve put on 2lbs! How can this be right?

My weight varies by 3-4lbs daily! Sometimes I'm 8.3, other times 8.7...once I realised this, I became far less obsessed over a couple of pounds. 4 pounds isn't much, just focus on eating a bit better and continue your running.

Haha definitely not obsessive about it, I think 4lbs in 2 months is a realistic goal. If I was I obsessive about losing the weight it wouldn’t have taken me 10 years Grin

The immediate reactions to more exercise, over various time scales less than a week, are the body storing more glycogen so you have a larger reserve of energy, and the body producing more plasma to help keep you cool and move blood cells around.

Both of those things come with a lot of water, and could easily be a kilo, if not more.

I hear you!

Since before lockdown I’ve been working out. At the gym I was cross trainer for 30 mins and 30 mins weight lifting etc 3 times a week.

Since lockdown I’ve been walking 5k every 2 days, I’m on my second 20 day challenge (a different workout everyday for 30 mins) and about 10 days into a squat and abs challenge.

I’ve cut down a lot of what I eat but not depriving myself at all. It’s the only real pleasure I’m getting at the moment as I don’t drink! Trying not to eat as much bread, pasta etc filling up with veg and not having sweets or crisps.

I’ve been gaining and losing the same 2lbs since February 🙈 I just laugh now, because the inches are coming off and I can physically see it’s working. My ass and legs haven’t looked so good for 10 years 😂 and I feel fantastic for it! My face has slimmed down a lot too. I’m chubby but strong now instead of just chubby 😂

I have Crohn’s disease and a stoma though so my body works a bit different than most peoples. Think I’ll just sack the scales altogether!

Go for a poo and those 4lbs will be gone 😂 I have 4.5 stone to lose, but fuck it.

@howaboutchocolate a kg is a defined measure. So when something has a mass of a kg that is against this measure (it is called a base SI unit).

The old definition used to be based on a prototype kg that was kept in France but it got changed by the international body that controls these things (taking the fixed numerical value of the Planck constant h to be 6.62607015×10−34 when expressed in the unit J⋅s, which is equal to kg⋅m2⋅s−1, where the metre and the second are defined in terms of c and ΔνCs to be precise).

But a kg is always a kg. No matter what material you are talking about. Now 1.5kg is more than 1kg yes which is why things have a different mass but a kg is always a kg because it is a defined unit.

Oh and because mass and weight aren’t interchangeable but we commonly use weight when we mean mass. But hey, I’m not going to choose to die on that hill (I’m an anaesthetist and they make us learn this sort of stuff for our exams!).

Maybe take measurements like waist? I fluctuate as well. You’re a healthy weight unless you’re four foot. I’m around the same as you. I get jaded with weighing as it can vary and for no apparent reason altho one thing I have noticed is - in hot weather you will retain water.
