NHS KeyWorker Car Stickers

I'm an NHS Key worker (on mat leave, going back to work in a couple of weeks) . I am so grateful for the recognition a lot of us are getting, mostly the priority access to supermarkets etc. HOWEVER I have only used this once as I feel awful queue jumping (very British lol) and plus as I have been on mat leave feel a bit of a fake 😂.

Now my Neighbour who DEFINITLEY does not work for the NHS has plastered NHS KeyWorker Stickers all over his massive, very new 4X4 (Yes I'd love to be able to afford a car like his!).

I just find it very amusing and am wondering what the stickers will achieve for him?

You can pick them up for a couple of quid on eBay...

Should I say anything to him? If so, what?!
TBH I feel it's so wrong and just using this board to get it off my chest!

Oh dear, I think it’s best not to judge others. Have you ever even spoke to you neighbour? Do you really know they aren’t a “key worker”? As for the supermarket queue jumping, I don’t think I could bring myself to do it. I was waiting at Aldi the other day and people were shouting out “I’m a key worker, can I go straight in?”. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

Sorry I meant to add I’m a neonatal intensive care nurse, so obviously work for the NHS.

Ok let's give the OP a break on the queue jumping, she realises it wasn't the right thing to do.

Still stands that anyone that rams down your throat how they are a "key worker" is s twit.

You can be a keyworker and work from home.
The 'keyworker' status allows those with children to access school places if their child can't be cared for safely at home whilst they work.

Not that it makes a difference, my ONE error has my reputation in tatters now

Good point. This still doesn’t apply to me though - my job is support the company to get new business so I’m not a key worker. Also, DH and I take it in turns to parent while the other works so DS is perfectly safe

Jeeeeeezuz! There’s some right miserable A holes playing the high and mighty mumsnetter today.

First off, you’re NHS so go and jump the queue. My friend works in a pharmacy, nice little 8-4 job and still wades her way to the front of the queue. I can assure you this time next year the NHS will be back to being the used and abused system with unappreciated staff. So take these little perks as and when you can.

The main issue here is the NON NHS worker claiming to be an NHS worker? I can’t imagine the sticker itself would bring any perks or benefits? Are you sure it’s not a sticker in support of our nhs workers?

It is an odd thing for your neighbour to do - I wonder if there might be another reason? Does he drive someone about who is a key worker?
Although, even if he was a nurse working directly with covid19 patients I'd still think it's an odd thing to do.

It's not just about the one queue jump though is it? It's about the one queue jump AND being so quick to judge a neighbour. Hypocrisy is rife at the moment.

It will serve everyone well if they'd just mind their own business. I'll admit this is advice I need to take myself at times. Winding yourself up over such things won't bother the people cheating the system/flouting the rules.
