To think there's no need to worry about socially distancing in schools in September?

Because all the dc are out in droves where I live - and I live in a naice area (not that that counts). We've still got 3 months to go it can only get more prolific. There's no way many of them won't have mingled over the Summer and trying to distance them after that will be a meaningless farce.
Disclaimer - my own dc are not allowed out.

its all very well saying you should abandon docial distancing but i think this is what teaching unions are arguing over. On the one hand you cant have most workers told to 1) socially distance to 2m and if this is not possible then 2) use ppe

But then not apply these rules to school staff, publicly comment that ppe is not required on non residential schools and then not publish the advice this is based on and then comment that the risk will be vanishingly small.

The government advice abandons any attempt at social distancing and focuses instead on hygiene. The measures are really stringent and staff will have to clean regularly and rigorously. There's a LOT of handwashing and sanitising and teaching the children not to touch and share. It does worry me that this will have longer lasting mental health implications than staying at home for a few more weeks and resuming school towards the end of June, keeping the children in just long enough to spark off another smaller spike of infections.

I also wonder if we are going to look back on this moment with the same incredulity with which we are now looking back on Boris handshaking and the government saying the virus is not going to be much of a risk to dear old blighty.
