AIBU to assume my holiday to Hong Kong in July will be cancelled?

A) I don’t want to go any more
B) I don’t think insurance will cover Covid-19
C) Hong Kong and Vietnam are currently still completely closed to visitors
D) I have been offered a job that I don’t want to turn down but I wouldn’t be able to go on holiday.

Unfortunately had to be July as we are staying with family there gathering replies from Canada and uk to respect specific senior relatives.

Surely you won’t be allowed to even board the plane if you’re not a HKID holder? You would also need to do a compulsory 14 day quarantine with a tracker tag when you arrive, along with a couple of tests to ensure you’re negative for Covid. I’m sure that your flight will be cancelled as the date gets nearer.

The fact you've paid the deposit is neither here nor there.

You want the new job and you don't want to go.

Your options are : a) don't go and hope you get your deposit back or

b) go and spend more money on a holiday you don't want and have to give up a job you do want

I don't even know why you need to ask the question, to me, unless there is something you haven't said, it's obvious.

Are you asking if you should go to Hk when you don't want to go because you've paid the deposit already?

If so,then no you shouldn't. You don't want to.

Due to corona there is a chance your trip,will be cancelled and you will get the deposit back but either way you shouldn't go.

From what you've said I would assume that you will cancel it, so yes, I'd assume it will be cancelled - by you.

You will likely be able to go but will have to quarantine either side for two weeks.

As such if I was you I’d cancel. It possibly won’t be cancelled for you as travel will be permitted but with the quarantine rule

What about the quarantine? I’d be surprised if you could get there to be honest.

Also I used to live there, I loved it but god the place was grim in the middle of summer.

Who is the deposit paid to? The accommodation? It might be hard to answer without knowing the company's terms etc.

I've paid in full for a European holiday in July that we won't be able to take. We probably won't get our money back (Ryanair and small hotel) but should get vouchers that may end up worthless. The money has been spent IMO so not losing sleep over it. You may have to lose the deposit and be thankful it's not the full amount - don't cancel it yourself as you lose any rights to getting it back, just sit tight and wait for them to contact you.
