I know the lockdown is getting to everyone. Myself, my oh and our 6 year old DD are at home.

OH works from home and seems to think I am his personal assistant! The requests for cups of tea seem to be endless and he just leaves everything he uses in the washing up.

I am trying to home school the 6 year old although in reality we are managing about 2 hours of focused activities a day, and trying to keep her entertained and stay on top of the housework although oh does majority of the cooking.

This morning I got up, got dd breakfast, washed the sink full of stuff oh had left from breakfast then went and cleaned the bathroom.

5 minutes after doing bathroom oh came down and moaned at me because I left his shower stuff on 'the wrong place' on the shower shelf!! Then dd appeared and moaned because I had left her handwash on the window sill and not the sink!!!

I may have lost the plot and now sat here silently raging about it!

Please tell me I am not the only one loosing my shit over ridiculous things?

I doubt very much that you'll be the only one! I'd want to kill anyone I was locked down with for this amount of time. They'd be grating on me like mad. I don't really think you're being unreasonable though! He can get his own bloody tea and he's being ridiculous about the shower gel and hand-wash!

HeyDuggeewhatchadoin · 12/05/2020 14:02

Both of them can just move their stuff back and be grateful that you did the cleaning.

Why do you make tea every time he asks and wash up after him? Just remind him that he wouldn't do it at work so he knows how to do both.

WickedlyPetite · 12/05/2020 14:03

YANBU

I bet your OH's actual personal assistant at work thinks he's a total cock if that's how he behaves.

Choice4567 · 12/05/2020 14:05

I’ve had lots of ‘helpful’ tips on how to keep the children motivated and doing lots of schoolWork. Then he disappears back into his Home office and I’m left with a shouting toddler and a crying 6 year old. I’m just ignoring it now!

mayaginger · 12/05/2020 14:05

He's an adult so he should do his own. I do all the washing up here but only because my kids are studying for exams next year and have six hours of lessons each day.

Di11y · 12/05/2020 14:07

I think you should be extolling the virtues of regular screen breaks to make everyone tea.

HedgehogDramas · 12/05/2020 14:09

I understand your rage OP!! It's being cooped up so long and being treated like a personal servant. There comes a time when you need to explode. I had a massive row with my OH at the weekend 'cos he bought me the wrong noodles. I was so over the top but it was just an accumulation of pent up irritation and it just all came out. I feel a bit childish now but better that the bubbling anger has been released ................until next time :)

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 12/05/2020 14:12

People that work in offices can still make their own tea, infact they often make it for other people, shock horror! They can also manage to wash up after themselves at work, and do housework and childcare outside working hours. Your husband is being a dick

Iwalkinmyclothing · 12/05/2020 14:13

I don't think you are BU.

"No, I am busy, make your own tea and whilst you're up I'll have one too please," is a phrase I think you should start using regularly.

And if DH whined about his shower stuff being on the wrong shelf I would have been extremely rude to him and suggested other homes for it.

OneandTwenty · 12/05/2020 14:16

He can make his own cup of tea and make you one too.

2 hours for a 6 year old is more than enough!

The only ones who are BU are the entitled children moaning at you!

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 12/05/2020 14:33

I would tell him to fuck off with his demands of tea. I would also tell him not to be such a dickhead and just move his stuff back to the corrects place. I would probably tell the 6 year old the same tbh.

Footywife · 12/05/2020 14:42

My OH is in danger of being buried under the patio!

He's been home since lockdown began. I'm working from home. He's literally lounged about doing naff all the whole time. I don't mind that, but he's constantly moaning and griping, huffing and puffing about every single person that's on tv. On top of this he's constantly chunnering over to me when I'm trying to work. aaaarrrggghhh!

He's realised he might be expected to go into work soon and now he's like a bear with a sore head stomping around chunnering about that. Jeez!

Thankfully I've been asked to work from the office from tomorrow (there will only be two of us in a massive building - our offices being at opposite ends). I actually can't wait to get the hell outta here. haha.

Maybelatte · 12/05/2020 14:43

I had an appointment with the midwife last week and she asked me whether I’d killed my husband yet. I think everyone is feeling stressed right now, these are obviously not normal circumstances.

Samtsirch · 12/05/2020 14:51

I regularly think of killing my partner, lol, I can’t wait for him to go back to work.
He’s not even doing anything particularly wrong, he’s just “ there” all the time 😆

VladmirsPoutine · 12/05/2020 14:57

Yanbu. That you think you are is quite alarming!

I once read that the happiest demographic / sub-group are unmarried, childfree women - reading mumsnet I really understand why.

Tell your husband to make his own tea and start cleaning and being attentive to the child.
