Has anyone had this for a c section and if so what was it like? I had a spinal last time but need the CSE this time. Can’t find much information on how it will be different in terms of recovery. Thanks

Depends if the epidural component actually gets used. We do them mostly if we think the surgery is going to take longer than a spinal lasts in obstetrics. If it's all done and no drama, the catheter wil come out and it'll be just like your previous spinal in terms of legs being numb etc. If the epidural is used, it'll depend if just for surgery or for post op pain as well. Basically numb and comfy until it's stopped then about 4 hours to get back to normal sensation.

Thanks, it’s for the operation as I can’t have the drugs that are used to control blood pressure

I had an epidural that didn’t work in the required spot so they gave me a spinal block on top. 10.30 pm.

All good, couldn’t feel a thing. But I couldn’t move in the bed for hours after. Absolutely nothing. I had to advise the midwives the next day that I had had the spinal block and that I COULDN’T MOVE. I couldn’t pick up dd, I could just get myself to sit up but then the pushing up to sit straight, back against the pillows etc - nope not a thing until after 12 the next day.

I managed a shower after the catheter was removed after 4 that was supervised and they measured my first wee. Then it all wore off and I asked for the panadol forte.
