To make the observation that "noone" is not a word

It is just that I see "noone" used frequently on here. The correct term is "no one" - two separate words.

Not being a pedant, just trying to be helpful. Smile

Knowing the basics of English language wouldn't make one feel superior surely?

Grendlsmother · 11/05/2020 13:22

This is perfectly reasonable.

Making a specific point of grammar or spelling on its own thread is fine. Some people do learn from it. Some errors become so ubiquitous, that people end up adopting them thinking that they are correct.

Doing it to score points on a random thread against a poster is not fine. (A special exemption for unreasonable ironic rants regarding the value of education and the processes and delivery of it.)

The one I hate is anymore. I’m sure anymore wasn’t a thing when I was growing up, it was any more. Then all of a sudden it was all anymore, anymore, anymore everywhere. Or do I mean every where?

McGriffo · 11/05/2020 13:44

As a PP said, it will be noone eventually. Today was once 'to day' and then 'to-day' . People spelling it noone are just ahead of the game! Language changes.

I use nobody 😀

Everanewbie · 11/05/2020 13:53

Not nearly as bad as 'loose' instead of 'lose' but at least they are making themselves understood, which is the main thing.

Ironically, noone cares.
