To ask for a raise?

So I'm 1 month in at a new job. I'm newly qualified in a specific mental health intervention and have been working for a local NHS subcontractor (so technically private but has same pension and leave as NHS and takes long service into account). The pay is advertised at band 7, however as I haven't received my provisional accreditation yet I am being paid mid-band 6. Two of my cohort have negotiated with their NHS managers (they stayed in NHS) to be paid at the top of band 6 whilst they wait for the accreditation. Another has gone into a different role similar to mine and has been started on band 7. We are all working at band 7 level with the same expectations and responsibilities. I'm due to have a probationary meeting at the end of the month with my manager and am considering asking for top of band 6. I've been in the NHS for almost a decade and so have no experience in working in an arena where salary negotiation is on the table, as I just worked my way up from band 5. AIBU to ask for a raise?

Also, if I were to ask, any tips on how to go about it? I usually ask straight out for what I want but I don't know if there's a specific etiquette for these conversations.
