Nabru sofas? Too good to be true?

Lockdown had made us realise we need a much bigger and more comfortable sofa. In my online searches Nabru keeps coming up and they seem to look good.... but why so cheap?!

If Nabru are no good, where can I get a decent large sofa? Around 3 metres long and excellent quality.,

I had a Nablus sofa when I lived in an upstairs flat and couldn't get a normal one upstairs. I really recommend them! It was easy enough to put together myself and fairly cheap for the size, plus I got to choose from a range of fabrics and colours!

Nabru*

OptimisticSix · 10/05/2020 21:51

We have had them for over a year and I dont like them, the corner bit is sagging (in fsct is seems to be designed slightly lower than the sides) and we went for storage and the tops never go back on properly. The back cushions are also really saggy and scruffy already... We paid to have them put together and it took the Nabru man three hours and he was sweating when he finished... Oh lastly its impossible to move them withiut taking them apart.

I have two*. The kids tv room in our basement did not fit our existing sofa down the stairs so I needed to find a flat pack version pronto. They were easy to slot together (and can be taken apart again if we ever move) and are very sturdy. They are VERY heavy once in place. I can't shift them around to Hoover very easily at all which is a slight downside. And they are very firm rather than squashy. The kids are really happy with them though as they feel like the VIP cinema seats. And despite getting a lot of abuse (food and drink spillages, kids practising gymnastics on them etc, they have held up remarkably well.

*I got two two-seaters as my little horrors would always bicker over who got the 3 seat sofa and who got the armchair. Ha, not any more!

We love ours. Had it 5 years. Moved twice and still looks like new. Has also survived everything the preschooler has thrown at it

We have one in our living room. We went for nabru because we wanted a large 3 seater that actually had 3 cushions (most retailers make them with 2 cushions and the third person has to sit in the buttcrack of the sofa). Also we wanted a brand new sofa but didn’t have loads of money to spend. Plus points are it’s comfy (hard, but we like that), we could choose dimensions to make the best of our space, cheap, and with the back cushions off it’s super wide, you could easily sleep well on it. Negatives are that it had a weird smell for the first couple of weeks, and we can’t move it without taking it apart.

Loaf.com - out of this world comfort!!!

We have two - a corner sofa that we've had for almost 10 years, and a normal 3 seater. They were cheap but have lasted incredibly well, are very comfortable and have survived a house move with no problems taking apart and putting back together with the added bonus of not having to try to manoeuvre them out of the front door.

You can completely tailor your sofas with fabrics and colours, and you can get replacement cushions and covers which is a bonus.

I would definitely recommend!

I have had a corner Nabru sofa for about 10 years. It has survived 3 house moves, being built and taken apart and is actually super comfy. It has the faux suede covers. Last year I bought new covers for it (to change colour) and i also added an extra chaise longue section to it, it looks like a brand new sofa. It does have a sofa bed inside but we’ve not used that for years. The storage compartments are v useful.
So - yes I would recommend, particularly if you are on a budget / worried about fitting it through doors etc. But definitely pay the extra for them to build it!

mumtomaxwell · 10/05/2020 22:35

I’ve ordered some fabric swatches so will get an idea of colours. I see they do similar to sofa sofa and let you send it back if it’s not comfortable. Seems risk free... always a bit nervous of buying furniture without trying it first.

Had one 5 yrs. Nearly divorced my new husband putting it together, but once you're through that stage, you congratulate yourselves on the money saved.

I love that it was exactly what we chose, and we can still alter it now if we want. It's ridiculously heavy, but we coped with 2 house moves in that time.

I got one last year and I’m not sure whether they were going through a bad patch but I had my delivery cancelled three times on the day after I had phoned up to find out what was going on. They promised to refund the extra I had paid for named delivery but never did. The covers are quite poorly made and badly fitting. I have a fold out sofa bed but think that’s quite unnecessary as it’s very comfortable to sleep in the top but the foldout bed is super hard. People with the storage- I paid for this but it is simply a plank of wood that is precariously placed underneath, is that normal? Without the storage there would be a gap there anyway where you could place things so I’m not sure what the piece of wood is really about. I have friends that have been super happy with Nabru but I don’t think that I would recommend them.

I have a nabru 2 seater in my conservatory. I love it! I chose nabru as it has the storage under where I store shoes that aren't worn much. I didn't pay extra for the storage boxes, just store the shoes on the floor under the seats.
It's really cosy and I didn't find it too hard to put together.

We also have one of the camp beds that doubles up as a "footstool" in matching fabric as the settee. It's as big as one of the single seats on the sofa and big enough as a footstool for me to curl up on and read and for an adult to sleep on as an occasional single bed (although narrow like a typical camp bed)

I highly rate my nabru for comfort and price and the fabric is really soft and so far hard wearing from both the sun shining on it and the dog sneaking up for a snooze.

I got one as the only way to get a large corner sofa up flights of stairs into my flat. The storage is great and mines a sofa bed too. It's fine, comfy enough although not like a high end sofa. Some of the covers don't fit absolutely perfectly so some edges don't look as neat as they could do. If you can wait and you are not getting one for the additional features it could be worth shopping around. However I think they are good value for money. It did take me hours to put up and some kind builders had to carry all the bits upstairs.

tealandteal · 11/05/2020 19:54

We have a single sofa bed which we have moved up stairs for a while and back down for a bit. We love it! Very firm compared to other sofas but I like that. Eyeing up another as the current "big sofa" is on the way out.

Hello,

Just joined after seeing this thread.
Those of you with sofa beds do you find the mattress comfy? I was worried that 6cm might be too thin?

Thank you 😊
