Reasonable time to have a bbq!

Not regular bbq users so not sure on bbq etiquette.

It’s sunny, people have their washing out what’s a reasonable time to have a bbq? 4.30?

I can always smell bbq’s when it’s sunny where I live and never smelt it on my clothes so assume not a problem?

Don’t want to annoy any of the neighbours!

I always knock and let my neighbours know I'm lighting a bbq if they have washing out. Then it's their choice to bring it in or leave it

We had our BBQ at 12.30pm, lunchtime and me, DH and toddler DS wanted lunch!
Glad we did as it's raining now :)

I would have thought lunchtime onwards, we usually have BBQs at about 5 or so.

mbosnz · 09/05/2020 16:17

We had one yesterday at 1pm, and another at 8.00pm.

The neighbour has just lit up theirs.

Round here it's a bit of a mexican wave of barbies on a nice hot day, so very much live and let live!

From lunchtime onwards in good weather

There will always be some miserable buggers in this world. Crack on with your bbq, it's not as if you're burning tyres!

We lit ours at about 12 and cooked lunch on it.

Our distant neighbours had the BBQ going at 10.30 the other week, and our immediate neighbours had theirs lit by 10 but were smoking a pork joint with the lid down so wasn't as smokey. I'd generally say lunchtime onwards though! We also give the immediately neighbours a knock of they have washing out like another pp Smile
