In my county there are 863,000 people and 1,221 have had confirmed cases and 200 have died. In my area, the only hospital is 20 minutes away and there have only been 7 cases and everyone has recovered. I don’t know anyone who has had it. What’s it like where you are?

I’m in an area with one of the highest number of cases per thousand population. My neighbour across the street has been very ill but recovered, another neighbour’s father has it, and I know two people who live close by who have died. I also live close to the care home where 15 residents died. Really sad.

BanjoStarz · 08/05/2020 21:46

If I move to the next town, 916 out of 260,000 with 200 deaths and 27% of all deaths mentioning COVID-19

I knew we were in a hotspot but still Sad

DonnaDarko · 08/05/2020 21:48

Should have mentioned, the stats are for the whole county not just our town!

Wankerchief · 08/05/2020 21:50

There are 529 confirmed cases in Reading, out of a local population of 163,203
In Reading there were 87 coronavirus-related deaths up to the 24 April. In this area 30% of all deaths involved coronavirus between 29 February and 24 April.

I know a few that have been ill and know of 2 that have sadly died

KKSlider · 08/05/2020 21:56

847 confirmed cases out of a local population of 320,274 and 116 coronavirus-related deaths up to the 24 April. In my area 16% of all deaths involved coronavirus between 29 February and 24 April.

I know a few people who have had unconfirmed cases but circumstances and symptoms point to it almost certainly being CV19 and I know three people who have died including a family member.

louloubelx · 08/05/2020 22:00

479 out of 478064 and 164 deaths until 24th April here

Sparklesocks · 08/05/2020 22:01

I live in a Greater London Borough - 1144 cases from a population of 331k, 212 deaths up to 24 April - which is 31% of all deaths involved coronavirus between 29 February and 24 April.

That seems quite high!

Unfortunately I know someone who has died from it (mid March) and a few of my friends and family in the area have had suspected mild cases, but none have been able to get tests to know for sure.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/05/2020 22:01

1224 cases in my county out of a local population of 592,057 and 282 deaths.

Winniewonka · 08/05/2020 22:18

Population 190,000
Confirmed cases 632
Deaths up to 24th April - 28%

I know one person who's sadly died, another that's unlikely to make it and one very fit and healthy NHS, person who has thankfully recovered but been very ill.
I am not taking any chances if I can avoid doing so.

Also, I disagree about opening libraries anytime soon, difficult to social distance and we would need definitive scientific guidance on whether or not the virus is able to live on book surfaces as these items are transferred between homes.

namechangenumber2 · 08/05/2020 22:31

3000 cases in an area of 1.4million with about 400 deaths

user1511042793 · 08/05/2020 23:03

So now you have your answer what is your point. Lock away dense areas. Or let dense areas come and live where you do. What is the point of this nasty thread.

VodkaCranberry2 · 09/05/2020 01:09

How is this a nasty thread? I was simply interested to know the infection rates after seeing ours online... Jesus.

OP posts:
Ticklemelmo · 09/05/2020 03:45

This isn't a nasty thread at all, it's been quite interesting to see other areas and how they compare.

I think my area is quite high.
Population of 34k, 600 confirmed cases with 176 deaths.

LoutyBooty · 09/05/2020 11:09

There are 867 confirmed cases in my area which is in the west Midlands out of a local population of 320,626
There were 199 coronavirus-related deaths up to the 24 April. In this area 25% of all deaths involved coronavirus between 29 February and 24 April

I don't know anyone that has had it

NoraEphronsneck · 09/05/2020 11:53

There are 1,214 confirmed cases iout of a local population of 241,264.

There were 157 coronavirus-related deaths up to the 24 April. In this area 26% of all deaths involved coronavirus between 29 February and 24 April

MitziK · 09/05/2020 12:00

Population 385,000

Confirmed/Actually Tested Cases 1,446

332 deaths to 26th April.

42% of all deaths (presumably the deaths where somebody was actually tested) to 24th April involved coronavirus.

Michelleoftheresistance · 09/05/2020 12:07

1100 confirmed and 280 deaths to 24th April, population of 748,00

20% of all deaths CV19

Capital city worse than the rest of the county, 20-29 cases per 10,000 people.

vanillandhoney · 09/05/2020 12:12

Over 2000 cases in a population of less than half a million.

In my specific town we've had at least five deaths.

Nixen · 09/05/2020 12:13

@Wankerchief I’m in Reading too. Sorry for your losses 💐
