People in the Tesco queue are doing the Macarena and I’m cringing so hard I think I might turn inside out

Just that really, essential shopping trip for us and two elderly shielded neighbours. Standing in the huge queue for Tesco, they’re blasting 90’s and 00’s classics out and people are dancing accordingly. At the end of each song they all cheer and clap. I’m a complete introvert, would rather shut my left tit in a car door than get involved.

Probably being a miserable kill joy but with a killer virus on the loose I don’t feel like flailing your limbs about and cheering me in close proximity to lots of people is the best idea. I want to shop then go home and sit in the bloody garden, not do the fucking time warp. Again.

I am smiling at this, not at your predicament, but at Tesco. It is a way of dealing with the boredom , frustration and incongruity of all this queuing.

You don’t have to join in, just smile and carry on posting.

Tequila!

Aragog · 08/05/2020 14:10

I'm not sure I'd be dancing but it'd probably make me smile if others were.

I'm assuming it's not compulsory to join in.

And we are still allowed to be happy and others are still allowed to dance and laugh even though there's this virus around. And yes, we know people are dying from it. It's not nice but it also doesn't mean that people can't be having fun alongside that. My FIL died less than a month ago during lockdown and my nana is seriously ill in hospital and has Covid on top of pneumonia and another bacterial infection. It still doesn't mean we have sit in silence being miserable the whole time.

YinMnBlue · 08/05/2020 14:11

P.s is it Streatham?

GREATAUNT1 · 08/05/2020 14:12

It would depend on my mood, if I was in a good mood I'd love it if not I'd walk on muttering & mumbling what daft bastards they were. I'd probably feel more embarrassed for the people standing there squirming. Some people just need this right now.

Camomila · 08/05/2020 14:13

I think it sounds fun! I was in a flash mob dance performance once so I'm not easily embarassed Smile

Prettybubblesintheair · 08/05/2020 14:13

I’m almost at the front now. Oh god if they ask me for a request I think I might disappear up my own arsehole.

I say I would hate it, but it everyone was doing it and it helped pass the time for a bit I would probably join in TBF.
I would request some stuff from the 80s though. Grin

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 08/05/2020 14:13

Truly laughing... Mainly because its not happening to me.

Sorry op

Sparklingbrook · 08/05/2020 14:14

Now I would draw the line at a flash mob-they make me cringe, I can't watch them.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/05/2020 14:14

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 08/05/2020 14:14

Prettybubblesintheair · 08/05/2020 14:14

YappityYapYap · 08/05/2020 14:15

Love it!

Prettybubblesintheair · 08/05/2020 14:15

It’s John legends all of me now.

Lots of swaying and ear shuddering harmonies.

Boudicabooandbulldogs · 08/05/2020 14:16

Oh god I would have loved that in my 45 min queue for the till at Tesco yesterday. Kind of like a strange supermarket aerobics.

Prettybubblesintheair · 08/05/2020 14:17

Oh no oh no oh no the girl with the microphone is asking people at the front for requests. I’m 3 people away.

YappityYapYap · 08/05/2020 14:17

I might turn inside out and disappear up my own arsehole 😂😂😂

I'm stealing those by the way!

Prettybubblesintheair · 08/05/2020 14:18

I’m in. Phew. I’ll admit, the two security guards singing along to John legend warmed my cold dead heart a little.

Mapril · 08/05/2020 14:18

In all honesty I would probably cry. Seriously, flash mobs, the clap for careers, whenever you get a group of humans all doing the same thing at the same time, I cry. I cried at a stadium full of people doing Gangnam Style whilst waiting for the act Blush

LadyOfTheCanyon · 08/05/2020 14:18

Yiewsley's not SW London! < pedant alert>

That would be utter hell to me 😂

user3274826 · 08/05/2020 14:20

Oh god, I've practically cringed myself inside out just reading it. If they played Ricky Martin or James Blunt I would have to accept doing my weekly shop in Iceland opposite.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 08/05/2020 14:21

You should have requested some Smiths or The Cure
