Friend coverting my friend

Jayeaz · 04/05/2020 12:09

I went on holiday with my friends some time ago to celebrate my birthday. some don’t know themselves. My very good friend whom I consider one of my closest friends paired up with my other friend ( they just met there) and from then on have gone to be become besties. I didn’t think anything of it at first but AIBU now they are flaunting their friendship?

Yeah, sorry, I think YABU. It makes sense that two people you like would also get on with each other. Just continue with their friendship with each of them as normal. They're allowed to be friends with other people - including each other.

spaghettios · 04/05/2020 12:11

How are they flaunting it?

Are you all 12?

Jayeaz · 04/05/2020 12:14

Ok thanks for the feedback. I love to learn everyday.

This can't be real??

Aloe6 · 04/05/2020 12:17

I believe the term is being ‘wendied’.

SeriouslyRetro · 04/05/2020 12:19

Are they still your friends? Do you still have the same level of friendship as previously? Or do you feel you’ve been excluded/wendied?

Talesoftimandterry · 04/05/2020 12:20

My very good friend whom I consider one of my closest friends this suggests that you have other friends who you are equally as close to, if not closer, than this very good friend. Friend is also allowed to have other close friends. Just because they met through you, doesn't make you any less of a friend to either of them.

zscaler · 04/05/2020 12:20

I think it’s normal to feel a bit hurt if mutual friends really hit it off and then start excluding you. Unfortunately, it’s just one of those things that happens sometimes and you learn to live with it! From their perspective they won’t be flaunting the friendship - they’re just spending time together.

I would try to take it as a compliment showing you have good taste in friends!

Spied · 04/05/2020 12:21

Yep. You've been Wendied.
I'd be hurt but it's likely you are reading more into the flaunting part. They are probably not flaunting it unless they are teenage.

Hadjab · 04/05/2020 12:23

I always find it weird when friends introduce friends to each other, then get pissed off because said friends get on well....

Cosyblanky · 04/05/2020 12:24

Hi Jayeaz, I can understand why this may sting a little, but don't take it to heart. The friendship they have together is different to the one they have with you. It is not something you can control

Weallhavevalidopinions · 04/05/2020 12:45

When you introduce people to each other some will get on and some won't. They got on and have become friends. You now feel threatened by this and so use the expression 'flaunting it' to make it appear that they have done something wrong - they haven't.... you don't have the monopoly on friendships. It's lovely that they get on so well. Your nose appears to be pushed out of joint..try not to let it get to you. You mention other friends and she wasn't your only friend.

We all change and grow some friends are around for a short time others around for life.... it's the way things are.

Weallhavevalidopinions · 04/05/2020 12:46

I am probably wrong but are you quite young- early twenties? It feels a very immature thing to post.

2bazookas · 04/05/2020 12:49

So what? It's lovely when you introduce two people you like and they get on

ImNotGroovy · 04/05/2020 12:51

Are they still friends with you?

Lynda07 · 04/05/2020 12:53

You did them a favour, each of them now has a new friend! Considering they didn't even know themselves beforehand, that was quite a feat!

Jayeaz · 04/05/2020 13:17

Lol 😆 yes

OP posts:
Jayeaz · 04/05/2020 13:17

Yes they are

OP posts:
Jayeaz · 04/05/2020 13:18

No need to be spiteful. Just asking a question.

OP i don’t think you know how forums work - we can’t see who you are replying to without you naming names.

“Flaunting” implies you think they are only friends to spite you? More likely they are just friends, i would have thought. No reflection on you at all.

opticaldelusion · 04/05/2020 13:52

Shouldn't you be on Google classroom, OP? Or doing your times tables or something?
