People are selfish taking across pavements

It makes it so hard to socially distance. I don’t get why people can’t see this is so selfish to people waking with kids or the elderly who then have to walk on the road?
Was i being unreasonable to point this out to a block who clearly didn’t agree with me 🤦‍♀️😂

Having to adapt doesn't mean making decisions for other people by preventing strangers following social distancing unless it's unavoidable.

Again your interpretation of avoidable and unavoidable may not be aligned with someone else's. What then? You're never going to get to a point where You feel there is adequate compliance. Hence I'm saying adjust your strategy for coping.

There was a bloke blocking the footpath seeing to the kids in the double buggy, I was coming up behind him. I left him to see to them and I nipped on to side of road, a van coming down road sees me in already on side of road as he approached and shouted abuse at me to get back on the effing path despite it clearly blocked. So you can't win either way. Someone will always pick fault at something and will always ways argue a different point of view.

brassbrass I know what my real risk is, doesn't mean people being thoughtless self involved arses elsewhere is fine and dandy.

It sounds as though your interpretation of "unavoidable" is "inconvenient". Unavoidable means cannot be avoided, not doesn't suit me to avoid...

But you've just proved my point 🙄 you're never going to arrive at a scenario where you get 100% agreement. All you're doing is stressing yourself.

OP I have literally just had this! I went out for a walk and turned into a road where people were on opposite sides of the road having a chat, effectively blocking off both pavements. All the houses have driveways, why the heck couldn't one of them cross over and they stand in a driveway 2m apart? The road is fairly busy so it's not that easy to go in the road, the pavements are quite narrow and no doubt they would have looked daggers at me if I'd dared to go within 2m of them. Fortunately there is a small section of canal towpath I was able to use instead though that rapidly became as busy as the M25 so I just gave up and went home.

And then the family groups with their bikes and scooters.

And the people working in their front gardens, but for some reason have to work on the pavements outside their houses.

And the people who set up deckchairs on the pavements outside their houses (ok that road wasn't busy so I could walk in the road).

Can you all just stay at home - within the boundaries of your home- and eat chocolate please. Forget the obesity crisis. Just stop making everywhere so busy!

I know I am being U! Actually I don't really think I am, I should be able to go for a walk.

And people have the cheek to say the runners are the problem. They so aren't.

Lots of people are now not socially distancing.

They wear masks and think they are invincible.

YogaFaker · 02/05/2020 16:35

But if he's just one person and you're a group with kids or elderly surely you're the ones who block the pavement?

This.

The number of times I’ve had to leap into the gutter because a whole family + pram take up most of the pavement. Slowly.

This thread is nuts...

So to be clear...walking is the only acceptable activity allowed? What if they were walking in place...does that count or would they still be evil monsters?

Might I suggest carrying a 2m stick with you on your next walk, then you can just hold it out in front of you like a jousting pole and poke those pesky chatters out of your way 🤣
