Need tips - migraine during pregnancy

Really suffering today. Not surprised as hormone changes always kick it off. I'm 16 weeks. Taken paracetamol (two doses today - one this AM, one with lunch) and using 4head but it's not touching the sides. I'm on low dose aspirin to prevent pre-eclampsia (it's not that; BP still normal) so don't want to mix loads of drugs.
Any tips? What else can I try to ease the pain and nausea?
When not pregnant or bf I use Syndol but obviously that's out of the question now.

I find the cooling strips really helpful for stubborn headaches, failing that a cool flannel on your head? Hope you feel better soon x

Try pinching (tight squeezing) the squishy fleshy bit between your thumb and first finger. Keep the pressure for a good 5 or more mins and you'll find some of the tension lifts. You can use a peg to do the squeezing

I second the cooling strips - one on the forehead and one on the back of the neck.

Try rubbing lavender oil on the 'dimples' on the outside of your eyes and at the base of your skill either side of your skull.
I also find moving my scalp backwards and forwards with my fingertips can provide respite.

You have my sympathies - no migraine during my first pregnancy but for my second it was constant for the first trimester. Ended up in hospital on a drip due to dehydration from the sickness.

Reflexolgy maps the tips of your fingers to your head - you could try pinching those to see if it helps.

4head was the only thing that helped me - and a cold flannel plus dark quiet room. You have my sympathies, pregnancy migraines are horrible xx

Call your GP after the weekend and ask about codeine (the active ingredient in syndol). It is not recommended as standard but is commonly used in pregnancy for people with severe pain.

You have my sympathy migraines are the worst
I swear by these ice packs (reusable just rinse and pop back in the freezer) one on the forehead, one one the back of the neck (I wrap in a flannel)
Super cheap

When I was pregnant I got the worst migraines! I agree with the migraine strips and I used a lavender spray for my pillows. I would have to close all the curtains, get into bed and have some calming white noise or something like that and just try to sleep it off. I also agree with asking the doctor about codeine, it can be safe in pregnancy as long as doctor is aware and gives guidance. Hope you feel better soon!

The white tiger balm. Far stronger than 4head, or and ice pack. You can also get migraine masks from amazon. They’re like hoods filled with ice packs.

Fuckingfuckssake · 01/05/2020 22:48

Was just coming on to say white tiger balm, just dab a tiny bit on your temples. I also find leaning forward and letting my head dangle for a while helps too.

I’m pregnant and a regular migraine sufferer. You need the real stuff- ask your GP about sumatriptan. It’s safe to take during pregnancy and it’s the only thing that cuts through the agony. Good luck! Xx

Thanks everyone. I've woken up with a shadow of it still there this morning. I think I've got some white tiger balm somewhere in the bathroom cabinet - I'll try to dig it out!

Will also try some of the reflexology tips.

Sadly I have a 2 year old and my husband is working all weekend (albeit from home) so resting it off isn't really an option Confused
