to ask what 6yo boys want?

I want to send my 6yo nephew a toy or game he can play with by himself that will delight him beyond all sense and will keep him busy enough to give my sister a break now and then.

He’s sporty (loves American football and, weirdly, golf- his granddad is a golfer) but probably has every piece of sport related equipment imaginable. He used to like floor jigsaw puzzles but has gone off those now. Also into superheroes, especially Spider-Man.

Any ideas?

Nerf, probably won’t give your Sister much of a break though.

My 6 year old loves his water table too.

Mine likes lego, gravitrax, wooden domino rally set. Board games like labyrinth, bugs in the kitchen, mouse trap, connect 4, carcasonne, but obviously these require another player.
He also plays with toy cars and wooden train tracks but I would think he will grow out of these soon.
Tablet or switch games would keep him quiet all day if i let him.
Outdoor hits are sandpit, water guns, bubble maker, football, mini golf set, slide, bike, chalk. Nerf gun, sword, etc.
But it depends on the child. My younger son has different interests, loves drawing and painting, pretend play.

What about the Melissa and Doug Detective set? It's a decoding set and kept my seven year old busy for a while.

A magic set? Although your sister might be subject to lots of "shows".

Swing ball is a good idea.

You need to choose something he can do independently and that doesn't make a lot of mess or require lots of extra resources.

How about screwball scramble, my son loves it and will keep him happy for ages (on his own). my son also loves a pack of cards yes I have to play too but I quite enjoy it!

He and all his friends love Pokemon, football and Bakugan - but not really sufficiently in the independent play category.

6 year olds are really easy to please.

For mine it’s pokemon, Lego, roblox and anything on a screen. I recently got him a diamond painting which he is quite enjoying and does a bit every day

My 7 year old is suddenly really into Playmobil novelmore and loves the castle (the cheapest one, the other two are crazily expensive) so you'd be the best aunty around if you got something like that. He's got a wooden castle he's never played with (hooray can chuck it out now...) so I was surprised.
