AIBU to be so distrusting of ebay sellers?

DH is pressuring me into buying from ebay to save money but I just really don't feel comfortable with purchasing anything from ebay without a warranty. AIBU in being untrusting? Is it even possible to buy a warranty for second hand stuff?

@ArriettyJones - yes, fair point. It's just so frustrating as a seller to always hear people having a go about us all of the time. Some of us actually pride ourselves in being good sellers!

Yes you can get warranties on secondhand electronic items on Ebay. All my laptops have been secondhand from there. You can choose a SquareTrade warranty which is provided by a third party. But read the terms carefully.

Wow, way to tar every eBay seller with the same brush!

Nobody's tarring every seller with anything, and besides it's not really about individuals so much as the way ebay themselves deal with things (which applies to sellers too and perhaps explains why so many now won't touch the site with a bargepole)

I do agree it's heavily biased in buyers' favour, but IME even that can depend on how much the seller trades. Raise a case against someone listing an occasional item and ebay will squash them instantly; raise one against a big commission-earner and the outcome can be very different

I get fed up of the chinese sellers pretending to be based in the uk, then once you've paid, you have to wait for the item to come from China.

I’m sure you are. There are some really fabulous sellers I use again and again.

I buy lots of stuff £10 and under on eBay. I'd be very wary of buying anything you'd want to have a warranty for.

There are some good sellers of electronics but I'd only use somebody with thousands of positive reviews and spend no more than I could afford to lose.

@DriveMeCrazy1974 I'm a big size 10 or a small size 12 - will this fit me?

Sorry, couldn't resist!
