What’s your favourite healthy snack?

After reading (and getting very hungry) reading the unhealthy treat, I started thinking about getting a list of healthy options to eat.

I absolutely love green veggies steamed served with a knob of butter and chilli flakes or pine nuts (or both).

What’s your go-to?

Smooth peanut butter with buckwheat/corn/rice crackers, and a nice big apple cut into four.

I make up a few “nut boxes” in one go: 2 or 3 types of nuts, dried apricots (unsulphured) and very dark chocolate. They keep for a good couple of weeks. The ultimate survival snack!

Houmous with a ridge cucumber and a pepper.

Gluten-free nutribrex with soya milk, plus sultanas and pumpkin seeds.

I have these things as actual meals though. My digestion is an obnoxious little shit, and I have to be very careful/boring in order to function at all.

Olives
Half avocado with lemon and salt

FruChoc · 27/04/2020 13:32

Ohh and don't know if it's considered healthy but 85% dark chocolate (Aldi sell it so it's 5 portion bars in one box) dark, Bitter and lovely (also brilliant digestion aid..☺️)

Pinkblueberry · 27/04/2020 13:32

Strawberries.

CeibaTree · 27/04/2020 13:33

A couple of oatcakes with no added sugar peanut butter :)

TheMostHappy · 27/04/2020 13:33

Sesame seed ryvita 😍

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 27/04/2020 13:35

Rice cakes spread with a bit of marg and Marmite. Really good at filling that "salty and crunchy" snack craving in a healthier way than crisps. Sugar snap peas are also great for a crunchy snack.

Peanut butter on slices of apple is another favourite here too. More filling than just eating an apple.

MentholChill · 27/04/2020 13:35

Juicy wee tangerine.

ZaraW · 27/04/2020 13:39

Cashew nuts dipped in honey and baked in the oven.

ZaraW · 27/04/2020 13:39

Hummus or lentil crisps

chunkyrun · 27/04/2020 13:40

Hard boiled egg with salt and pepper
Couple of Brazil nuts
Apple

AravisTarkheena · 27/04/2020 13:59

Mmmm sugar snap peas. I also eat just a raw carrot quite frequently. Have discovered corn cakes and they’ve edged it over rice cakes for me.

littlepeas · 27/04/2020 14:02

Savoury - hummus - it’s prob my favourite food.

Sweet - dates stuffed with almond butter or an apple slices with almond butter.

lazylinguist · 27/04/2020 14:14

Mashed avocado on wholemeal or sourdough toast or on rice cakes.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 27/04/2020 14:15

I follow a low-carb, high-fat way of eating, so what's healthy to me may not seem so to everyone, but I like:

  • pecan nuts, sometimes with a square or two of very dark chocolate
  • hard boiled eggs
  • bit of cheese
  • Greek yoghurt with raspberries
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 27/04/2020 14:16

Oh, and a spoonful or two of peanut butter

EngagedAgain · 27/04/2020 14:31

Nuts (of which I rotate different types), an apple, yoghurt, two squares of dark chocolate. That's all I think for snacks. Peanut butter or marmite on toast if I want something a bit more substantial.

Justnot · 27/04/2020 15:31

Toast with garlic and tomatoes like Spanish tostadas
Griddled asparagus with salt and pepper
Greek yoghurt with oats and honey
Nutribullet with a bit of everything but lots of blueberries and Apple juice to hide taste of veg

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 27/04/2020 16:01

Dark ryvita with hummus, cheese, gherkins (very nice combination) or just a little peanut butter

Hard boiled eggs with salt

Sour apples with peanut butter

Oatcakes with peanut butter

Not sure all this peanut butter is healthy ....

I love raw sugar snaps or mangetout as well.

I eat cherry tomatoes by the punnet.

Nectarines and peaches I love as well.

ComtesseDeSpair · 27/04/2020 16:55

I have never eaten so many tinned sardines as I’ve eaten in the past month or so! They have become my new favourite snack, with hot pepper sauce dashed over.
