No biggie , got worse things going on in the world I know but I am so embarrassed.

My husband and I moved into our house two years ago, the neighbours are lovely but we don’t talk loads , they have two children and we just say hello as and when. Anyway when we moved in we sent them a card at Christmas and just addressed it to number 20, from Garlic Bread and DH.
We never got one back but didn’t expect one and assumed they didn’t really do cards .
We then got a knock at our door last year asking if they were ok to paint their fence on the driveway a different colour to ours as they were aware it may drip to our side, we said no problem we will just paint ours the same colour as it needed doing anyway and they were lovely about it, told us their names , apologised for not introducing themselves sooner.
Since then they’ve been friendly with us over the fence , so we often say good morning Jen & Stewart. The kids are nice too.

Anyway we got a card from them thanking us for our NHS service as they know both my DH and I work for the nhs and said if we need anything let them know. Well bloody hell , he’s not called Stewart. He’s only bloody called Steven. Not even slightly similar . I don’t think I can show my face again. Thank god for isolation.
I am so embarrassed and he hasn’t corrected me EVER ! he’s always responded when I’ve said hi Stewart.
Please tell me you’ve done something similar 😂

I was sending it to number 111, when I should have sent it to number 11. I didn't send one last Christmas ( or rather, I finally sent it to the right address!) . Do you think they'd have been disappointed not to get a card from the @parrot family?

GaaaaarlicBread · 26/04/2020 00:12

@waltzingparrot I genuinely would notice if I hadn’t received a card from the parrot family after all those years of getting one . I want more to come of this ! Send a letter during lockdown and explain what’s happened I think they’d love it !

My name isn’t common where we live, so my colleagues and clients often misspell and mispronounce my name, similar to calling me Anna when it’s Anya. It doesn’t help that a well known American has the same spelling but uses different pronunciation.

I honestly wouldn’t worry too much about it. If people are making a genuine effort to say my name (and it’s not a difficult one), I don’t worry.

My neighbour thinks my name is Sarah. They send a Christmas card every year and I never send one back as if need to put my real name. It’s went in too long now and I’d feel bad telling them

When we first moved into our current home, the lovely elderly neighbour was called Kate.
Kate didn't like cats, so quite often when we'd be out in our garden, you'd hear Kate shooing & hissing away neighbourhood cats that would walk the fence line.
After a while, Kate started pretend barking whenever she saw a cat- like a "Ruff, ruff, RUFFFFF!"
ExDP started commenting that "Ruff/ Roof" was at it again, until we just referred to her as "Roof/ Ruth" rather than "Kate".
Yeah...didn't take long before I started greeting her in passing on doorstep with the wrong name...ExDP found it hilarious whenever I scuttled in embarrassed at yet another name faux pas- I think she just thought I had a terrible memory for names Confused

My neighbour calls me abbie ,my names with an A but it's completely different, we get on really well and they take parcels in for.us with.my name on but hadn't clicked & for the last 5 years I've signed our Xmas card abbie because I don't want to embarrass them my husband finds this hilarious 😂😂

We got our neighbour's wife's name wrong in our first Christmas card to them. Think Brenda instead of Barbara.
Derek, Barbara's husband, put us right, calling over to dh 'Dave, my wife's name is Barbara, not Brenda. Etc, etc. He was a bit short about it. Fair enough, didn't mean to upset them.

He's been calling Dh Dave for 13 years. Dh is not called Dave.
