Desperately seeking a little jellycat fox in a blue jumper :(

Posting for traffic and lack of where else I should post I suppose!

My almost 3 year old daughter lost a little jellycat fox in a blue jumper on a woodland walk on Tuesday, the design is called "toastie fox". Can't see him in stock for sale online and I've posted on local facebook groups to see if he has been found. I've looked on ebay and can only see one for £40 which we just can't afford at the moment and my daughter is very sad, especially at bed time.

I don't suppose anyone has one laying around they no longer care for that I could purchase off them do they?

This gift company sells jellycats. The toastie fox isn't on their website but maybe they could help source one?

Oh no my little boy has the monkey and sleeps with it every night . I'm so sorry about your daughter she must be very sad. Could you post on local facegroup groups to see if anyone is selling one ? Look on market place ect. I definitely think emailing jellycat is a good idea as they may have spares. The only other idea I could think of and I dont think my son would accept this but could you get the one that looks closest and a little jumper and says it's her foxes , brother, sister ect and they have come to keep her company until hers returns.

Sleephead1 · 24/04/2020 07:06

Saw these on ebay if any would do as a relation ? There is one toastie but guess it's the one you saw as £40

There's a Facebook group called Little Blue Cup. . It's for posting about lost toys and for asking if anyone has similar ones. . . Worth a try

Hopeisnotastrategy · 24/04/2020 07:12

Is it worth contacting the local paper to put an appeal out , they’re probably short of stories at the moment? They can only say no?

Mangofandangoo · 24/04/2020 07:17

What about this OP - he has a similar face and you could whip him up a jumper

Thank you all for the suggestions they are really helpful! I've had a good search on fb market place but cant see one, will continue to post on fb groups though and will check out the group suggestions.

Unfortunately my almost 3 year old would spot anything but the real deal a mile off, she would definitely know if we try to get a different one... kicking ourselves for not buying a more generic jellycat fox a few years back.

I may try to message the ebay seller and see if they would drop the price, I'm not holding out much hope for that though as I think they'd probably hike up the price instead 😂

could you get one like the one here and tell a story that the fox is growing out his fur as he wanted a new style?

Yes it's that one, £40 is just too much though when they originally cost £14!

Unfortunately I dont think she'll be fooled with another fox.

Defo put up posters on trees with your phone number.
Put a £xx ‘reward’ on them of however much you feel you’d be happy to pay for its return.

LoisSangerAteMyHamster · 24/04/2020 10:01

What’s your budget Crazy?

Crazyoldmaurice · 24/04/2020 10:02

Just heard back from the ebay seller... I asked if they'd consider selling for £20 and explained the story and they said they'd meet me half way at £30. It's still far too much for what it is (it's a tiny wee thing) but I think I may have to.

@LoisSangerAteMyHamster

I was hoping to spend no more than £20 really

SE13Mummy · 24/04/2020 10:38

@Crazyoldmaurice was that one in Poland any good? That was much cheaper.

Buzzfrightyears · 24/04/2020 11:03

When was it retired?

LoisSangerAteMyHamster · 24/04/2020 11:26

I suppose £30 is better than £40. I can’t find one on-line either and I know we don’t have one. I think I’d probably have to buy it at that price if I could find the money.
Never take it out of the house again!

friskybivalves · 24/04/2020 11:37

OP, have sent you a DM.

change the currency on the top right hand corner
im not too sure of the legitness of the website, but it's on there, so maybe look into this and see if you are able to buy it

I hope you find one!

TitianaTitsling · 24/04/2020 11:58

In ' normal' times ld ask have you tried stately home/small gift shops. But l don't know if anyone could even check stock at present- I know several garden centres sell the jelly cat items but I don't think that's exactly helpful just now, sorry!

Cherryboms · 24/04/2020 15:48

There are quite a few jellycat groups on Facebook... Would it be worth joining them, and maybe asking on there, if anybody has one they would sell?

Crazyoldmaurice · 25/04/2020 12:25

Heard back from Jellycat themselves and they dont keep any retired toys in stock due to storage and needing the room. They linked me to lots of shops but unfortunately none have him unstock, they were really sympathetic.

I've joined a few facebook jellycat groups but no one has yet commented.

Weve put up a few posters with a reward but nothing as of yet.

The toy on the south African website comes to £28 with the postage so might as well just get the ebay one at that price.

Looked at the polish one but my phone wont translate the website so cant really go any further.

Think buying the one off Ebay for £30 might be the only option, just wish we'd bought a spare in hindsight!

Scroll to the bottom of the page for the Polish one, WYŚLIJ WIADOMOŚĆ means send a message. Click on it and write one in English?

Crazyoldmaurice · 15/05/2020 10:40

Just thought I'd give this a bump for traffic incase anyone else has one laying around before I buy the Ebay one; it's been 2 weeks and despite posters put up locally with a reward the little fox has not found his way home.
