How often do you wash your hands?

I've never washed my hands so much since this covid 19 pandemic. I wash my hands constantly throughout the day. For example, if I've taken a box of something out of the fridge, I will remove item from the box, discard the box and then wash my hands.

I wash my hands after if I pour myself a drink (from a bottle). Anything I touch, I wash my hands after wards or I will wash the item if I'm able to. I have cleaning wipes and hand sanitiser in my car so I sanitise my hands, I clean the wheel/gear/handbrake, etc with the wipes, sanitise my hands again, I wipe my phone and keys down, then door handles etc. The thought/process is tiring!

I feel like I'm getting quite obsessive but it keeps my mind at ease slightly with this whole pandemic going on.

I've calmed down since the first couple of weeks. When I've been out they get washed several times during my decontamination process when I get in. And when my flatmate comes in I wash them several times while decontaminating anything he might have touched after coming in.
But once that is out of the way I'm only washing them a little more often than I would anyway.
I've even gotten a little bit lazy about the 20 second process. I still do that during decontamination and about two thirds of the rest of the time.

Same as many others. Unless I've been out I wash as I normally did. So when I've been to the toilet or taken youngsters to toilet. Before and after eating and when feeding little one who is recently weaned. Working with food. When we get in from outside.
I was quite surprised when loads of people started posting that their skin has become really dry from the amount of times they are washing, unless people were hardly washing at all

Oh yes they also get washed several times when decontaminating any deliveries.

But how many of the 'wash as normal' people actually washed their hands properly every time in 'normal' times? I know I didn't.

I only wash my hands as normal - after the toilet, when I return home and after handling raw meat.

I’ve always been very thorough with handwashing and to be honest, It’s not increased in light of Covid 19.

SnowsInWater · 23/04/2020 02:53

I always washed my hands loads (well I thought it normal but obviously it wasn't 😁). The only difference is now the first thing I do when I come home having been out is wash my hands whereas before I would probably have waited until I had done something to warrant it.

Way more than usual, I know it’s psychosomatic but my hands just feel dusty/dirty more than usual even when there’s no,logical, reason too so,I’m washing them more

Gingerkittykat · 23/04/2020 04:02

Inside the house the only difference has been washing hands after handling mail, otherwise it is the usual after the toilet, cooking, putting the bin out and cleaning the litter tray.

I am using sanitiser when out after I've been touching things, I also wash and change clothes when I get home which I didn't do before.

My hands are really dry but I think it's more from the sanitiser than washing them with handwash.
