my ds nursery school say i have to be CRB checked, if i want to go in ocassionally, is this right??????????

Ive never heard of it before, with my other 2 ds's i used to stay behind and help out every now and then, but they are now 13 and 11, so that was so time ago, do parents have to have CRB checks?????

DS1's school is the same. You shouldn't have to pay anything. Mine took about 5 weeks to come through.

As others have said technicaly you don't need if if you won't have charge of the children or be alone with them.

MIL has offered to help out on a trip at school and school asked her to fil out the form for CRB, won't cost her anything. I think charities and school get secial allowances for this.

She is only going to be helping every now and them but education authority obviously want to cover them selves and I suppose out on a trip helpers could quite easliy be required to take them to the loo or end up with out a teacher present.

I was thinking along the lines of if i have a few hours to spare, every now and then.

I dont mind being CRB checked, but thought it was a waste of money. I have been crb checked, by the FA as i run a children's football club, but this doesnt count, as you cant transfer it. You need a fresh one for every type of setting.

Also if the nursery are going on an outing and they need lots of parents to volunteer to make the outing possible, they cant CRB check everyone beforehand????

I do think it is crazy that CRB / disclosure certificates aren't transferable.
