If you have a hospital appointment in May or June, are you expecting to go

I'm wondering this. I don't live in the UK, so things differ in ways (ie cancellation policies will differ everywhere, even in different places within the same country) but in terms of risk how do you feel about attending a hospital or doctor's office?

If community transmission shows signs of slowing up, does that translate to reduced risk for picking it up when out and about at essential appointments?

And if your appointment is cancelled, what impact will that have on your condition?

I can do a lot of my consults with my doctors virtually which is very lucky, but have an essential diabetic eye check in person up at the end of May and already feeling a bit uneasy about going. I think with a bit of luck we will be able to borrow a car rather than take public transport, which is something.

I had a cardiology appointment cancelled for April and rescheduled for October (routine).

Also had an antenatal appointment this month in a maternity hospital which went ahead and the hospital screened everyone on entering, had to disinfect your hands, had to wear a mask if symptomatic or had contact with a known case and maintain social distancing in the waiting room.

I had a letter cancelling my Rheumatology appointment for mid June, the letter specifically mentioned Covid-19, and I am in the vulnerable/shielding group due to the medication I take. I have no idea when I will see my Consultant again.

My one in June has not been cancelled.

@WilburIsSomePig Did you see the thread yesterday? The hospitals are empty.

Ponoka do you have a partner or adult child at home who could do your B12 for you? DH did mine with agreement from the GP. I was confident enough to instruct him though Wink

Just heard I have an appointment for an eye injection near end of May. I'm confident the clinic will be safe but very worried about getting to the hospital as I live alone and don't drive so will have to travel 20miles each way by either bus or taxi. I'm in the 'elderly' group and haven't left the house/garden for a month. Hoping they'll postpone the procedure to a later date. More than 4wks to go yet so anything could happen.

My partner has had her appointment for the ENT clinic re-scheduled for June.

As we are keeping away from everybody because both of us have risky underlying conditions, my response when she told me this was as follows:

"Are you INSANE? Don't even THINK about going!"

Had my appointment with the consultant changed to a phone one and most of my midwife appointments have been by phone. My next consultant appointment is face to face at the end of May. I'm hoping (but not realistically) that things will be better by then.

I have my dating scan end of April. I'm extremely nervous about going but I know I need to. I've been advised by a family member (who is a frontline NHS key worker) to wear a mask during my entire time there.

Waiting to hear regarding ds1 paediatrician appointment. His physical therapy assessment is being delayed and his development review is being conducted by telephone. I'm disappointed about the physical therapy delay but the rest we can handle

Dd has had ENT appointment cancelled for mid may, no idea when it will be rescheduled

Stress12345 · 21/04/2020 23:05

My end of June appointment has been changed to telephone consultation.

I got a letter today for an appt for my dd for ENT for mid may! It's not urgent in any way. I'm going to call tomorrow and ask it to be put back. But I'm just so surprised. I've had various phone calls over the last couple of weeks for other appts for both dds to be rearranged and postponed (including camhs).

My Ds Hospital appointment in June has been changed to a phone review.
