To tell DH not to go to hospital?

Over the last couple of weeks, DH has very sore painful nipples and they feel solid underneath, first one, now both. No discharge or visible signs. He is 66, very ill and frail and had recent heart procedure, and I worry he'll catch CV and die if he goes to hospital. I don't think it's breast cancer - but could it be? What else might it be? The GP is only doing phone calls not appointments in person, and as I say, there's nothing to see.

YABU = Go to hospital YANBU= Don't go

@FlamedToACrisp gp is his first port of call. Does he have any lumps around his nipple? My dh had some, we thought the worst but it was something called Gynaecomastia

There's no problem at all getting hold of GPs at the moment. In fact where I am (and friends in different parts of the country have said the same) it very much easier than usual! My surgery answers within a couple of rings, a triage nurse phones back within 30 minutes, and if they think you need a doctor, you're seen quickly. No more waiting three weeks for an appointment!

Just call!

Was anything implanted when he had his heart procedure OP ? Hopefully you have managed to get through to your GP by now Smile

OK, I will get him to call GP tomorrow.

He has no obvious visible lumps, just this hardness under the nipple area and around. I haven't felt it myself as it's too painful to squeeze, I've only pressed gently with a fingertip.

Thank you all for your help.

It is probably caused by one of his drugs for his heart problems. Gynaecomastica is a well known side effect and it can be painful when it is developing. He should absolutely chat to his GP about it to make sure there is nothing else going on but shouldn’t pitch up to the hospital.
