Just that, really, interested in your opinions,

OP posts:
Ihavenoregrets · 20/04/2020 17:49

Well if it was a choice between him and Bojo then yes but he is still a Tory boy

mocktail · 20/04/2020 17:51

YABU

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 20/04/2020 17:52

Just said the same to my husband. I'm not a Tory at all but prefer him to any of the other ministers that have been doing these briefings. At least at the end of the questions he does a final statement before walking off. The others basically puck their papers up and run away. I think the Chancellor comes across as much more genuine with his responses.

NewYearNewTwatName · 20/04/2020 17:52

He comes across well even when he's not wheeled out to throw money in the air.

I can't stand Gove, Hancock and Raab

WickedlyPetite · 20/04/2020 17:52

Well he's much easier on the eye than Boris. Dishy Rishi.

PubsClubsMinistryOfSound · 20/04/2020 18:04

He has very little political experience, which is concerning for someone in such a significant role. On the other hand, he's not proven himself to be actively unsuitable unlike the current incumbent, so between the two of them Rishi is preferable.

Chillicheese123 · 20/04/2020 18:06

He comes across quite well and not ‘politician-y’, he’s young and from an immigrant background which I think would be refreshing to be honest

ilovesooty · 20/04/2020 18:07

Wasn't there a thread on this recently? Jr comes across well on TV but he's done nothing of substance yet to demonstrate that he's capable of doing the job.

ViciousJackdaw · 20/04/2020 18:42

No way. Bozza is our quickest route to a Labour government.

GrumpyHoonMain · 20/04/2020 18:46

Both sides of his family were amongst the elite in East Africa and fled with all their money intact when they got wind of the troubles there in the 60s. Immigrant yes but he has nothing in common with the East African refugees that came in the 60s / 70s.

Theduchessstill · 20/04/2020 19:20

God not this again.

You were impressed with him tonight??!!

PubsClubsMinistryOfSound · 20/04/2020 19:44

True vicious! Think that might be why Murdoch is gunning for him now. I don't reckon Johnson is going to be fighting the next GE.

fruitpastille · 20/04/2020 21:03

Generally voted against laws promoting equality and human rights. And the rest. Google his voting record. He does read a speech well though.

SabineSchmetterling · 20/04/2020 21:26

I was reading a Guardian article earlier and, according to them, it’s Sunak and Gove who are really pushing for the government to end lockdown earlier than the scientific advisors say they should.
Apparently Raab, Williamson and Sharma, who were all keen to reopen ASAP, have been won over by scientific advice suggesting that opening too early could create a much worse second peak and potentially affect the economy worse than staying in lockdown for longer now.
He presents far better than the others and speaks like a human being but his voting record, the fact that the Murdoch press are suddenly so keen on him and reports that he’s in favour of deviating from the advice given by the scientists all make me very wary.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 20/04/2020 21:38

Gove will be next. I think Murdoch is tiring of Boris and will aim to put Gove in charge.

Rishi Sunak comes across well but needs longer in the Government to test his mettle before going for PM. I reckon ten years and he’ll have a shot.

EmbarrassedUser · 22/04/2020 18:27

I really like him and once he’s had a bit more experience doing what he’s doing I think he’d be great. Life long Tory voter here so happy to have them in power.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 22/04/2020 18:33

I thought he was there on work experience, isn’t he in year ten?

recrudescence · 22/04/2020 18:41

You will get your wish in due course. The inevitable post-corona inquiry will find Johnson very wanting and, in the ruthless way the Tories are best at, he will be required to fall on his sword. Sunak will lead the Conservative Party to victory in 2024.

HandfulofDust · 22/04/2020 18:43

Pretty much this.

LittleAndOften · 22/04/2020 18:51

Hello Mrs Sunak

campion · 22/04/2020 18:58

Maybe so, but will it ever see the light of day?

What happened to the report on Russian interference in Brexit?

WomanIsTaken · 22/04/2020 19:02

Little Grin

lemontreebird · 22/04/2020 19:05

Not enough experience imo.

user1497207191 · 22/04/2020 19:06

Jury out. Not impressed at all with the business support schemes and his reluctance to engage with professional/trade bodies urging him to deal with all the anomalies that the "back of a fag packet" initiatives have caused.

sneeuw · 22/04/2020 19:20

"Immigrant background"?

He's part of the international elite.

Check out who his father in law is!

And it's not exactly like he started where "immigrant background" implies (although I don't doubt he's faced xenophobia and racism).
