It’s been reported in a local newspaper here that people have been avoiding a&e. Are a&e’s full of people suffering from the virus? Are they separated from patients in for other reasons?

Dh went today - large university hospital. They aren't taking any covid cases in the a&e dept and everyone was thoroughly triaged at the entrance. He said it wasn't very busy, especially compared to just before Christmas when it was manic, and was quite peaceful as everyone was on their own.
He was a bit apprehensive before going but was reassured ,so he's fine about having to go back next week.
People really must to go if they have a problem.

My friend had to take her (adult- 18 years) dd to A+E this week.
She was in and out very quickly. The waiting room was empty, and her dd was seen within 2 minutes of being there.
They have a separate entrance and area for anybody with a fever or any respiratory symptoms at all. Obviously she doesn't know how busy it was there, but the "normal" A+E was deserted.

I guess people are worried that they might catch the virus going in. I’m wondering how many people haven’t got medical attention when they need to.
