My local hospital was so crowded it was ridiculous, not only the hospital staff all crowded in a tiny tiny area, police and fire joined in too
It was so crowded, if someone need to urgeny get into a and e they would have struggled to get through the crowds that were not social distancing at all

Fucking madness, just everybody stop voting fo the fucking tories, who have destroyed the nhs over the last ten years !!!!

There’s been so many threads on this already 😩 if you don’t want to clap them don’t clap .

saraclara · 18/04/2020 09:50

The number of threads about this is almost catching up with the 'my kids' school is not giving them enough/is giving them too much to do' threads.

ForbiddenFromNaples · 18/04/2020 09:55

Not unreasonable at all. This clap thing is narcissistic. I participated in the first one, got teary eyed and emotional and then realised I was just doing it to feel good about myself.

I owe the NHS more than the average person on the street and think they deserve something more tangible than a collective wankfest. Decent PPE would be a nice start.

Lardlizard · 18/04/2020 09:56

Not only did the fire service and police turn up they blocked the entrance to a and e with fire trucks! If someone was having a heart attack or any other seriously emergency they wouldn’t have been able to get through, let alone the social distancing l, why on Earth the police have fire are turning up at this tiny tiny, part of the car park is mind blowing !!

In my village it's great but we're not crowded together and no one is judged if they don't join in. I do think it becomes a bit hollow though when people clap and cheer and draw rainbows in their windows but vote against nurses pay rise and expect the medical staff to be happy to act as collateral damage in the quest to maintain house prices.

HandfulOfDust · 18/04/2020 09:58

Obviously crowding together to do it is ridiculous.

See the numerous threads about this all over MN. They are appearing weekly if not more frequently.

If you want to clap, clap.

If you don't want to clap, don't.

If the general public are gathering and not following social distancing then the powers that be should be breaking the groups up.

If the police and fire are in car parks if hospitals I would assume they'd be aware of an ambulance etc and would be moving very quickly. I've not yet heard of any ambulance being able to access the a and e or other areas of any hospital due to this.

AuntyClockWise · 18/04/2020 10:06

Yes also donations of things like Easter eggs and bottled water has gotten right out of hand. I work in a hospital and nurses are over run. They've given loads of it to food banks and had to put a plea out on Facebook asking people to stop donating as they don't have the space as it's actually taking a lot of resources from NHS to sort it, store it or regift it.

Have no idea why so many people think they're helping with this clapping and donating when it's actually causing the NHS much more trouble.

Goodness, I have been a bit apolitical all my life. Now I'm waking up to see NHS people working without the bare minimum PPE they need to be safe.

Doctors, nurses and care workings dying from infection from the patients they are caring for.

This is a scandal.

Lardlizard · 18/04/2020 11:29

Yes and being told to reuse PPE
Is really is a scandal
